Didn't have much sense in me since we got snow and the roads have been nasty the last couple of days. Church and few other things were cancelled or closed today and I wasn't planning on going any where, but I did figure by the time I did the roads would be okie dokie. Around 10ish I found myself needing to go out and figured it would be okay.

I'll say up front I made it to my destination okay, but there was a few moments I thought I'd be trying out the TOP at 30 or so MPH. I had one guy behind me trying to kiss my ice, and you'll see me wave in the little video to get him to BACK OFF!

Chris - Chris - Chris.... well, now you have issued undisputable proof.

You are the CRAZIEST VISION RIDER IN THE WORLD

INSANE, Man !!!! Just the THREAT of all that slush coming at me from an oncoming truck scares the hell out of me (and MOST sane bikers).

And that's just ONE of the possibilities. Chris - YOU are worthy of being an actual "CRAZY CANUCK" !!!!

When you saw the pictures of ME in the snow - the roads were BARE AND DRY !!! Wow - I'm just in awe.....

Clear evidence that his butt is not the only part of his anatomy made of some form of metal.
I just want to know if brass ones are as cold as they are reputed to be.

Dear Santa,
PLEASE bring me some new handlebar tassles for my bike... I've been a good boy and ridden her so much this year that they blew off
and all that is left is one sad little strip of leather... I promise I wont ask for anything else.
Thank you VaRyder.

VaRyder and I get a long fine. just cause we kid each other on here doesnt mean a thing. My mamma told me, "ya only kid the folks ya like, the ones ya dont like, ya leave alone". VaRyder is lucky cause he gets to ride his bike more then me. I just cant make deliveries from my store on a bike.

here's one doing a review on the Vision in the snow. I didn't see anything that concerning, except just being out in it is absurd. Also, he doesn't have the tassles, big difference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtV10ncmGXg

I have spent some time in the South. I learned something very important. Southerners tend to go a little crazy when there is snow on the road. They seem to not know what it is or how to drive on it. Look out for the other idiots VARyder. That is one ride I dont think I would do, and I know what snow is. NE Wisconsin has taught me that much!

Ride safe you crazy SOB!

Chris,
I was watching and thinking to myself "it took him over a minute to get out of his driveway... what a nut job"
Then I thought "now that he's out on the road, it does not look so bad"
Then I saw the hardpack drift snow across the road... and stopped watching. As the author-who-will-not-be-winning-a-pulitzer-anytime-soon put it.... "Absurd"

In a fit of self-preservation, I am now only focusing on "Where are his lowers?"

overall it was not that bad. I did not plan on doing this, I thought the roads were all clear. I rode again today, but will leave early on to avoid the night freeze.

with global warming Houston can expect blizzards in the future...

New handle for ya Chris: Instead of VaRyder you should be "VISIONKRAZY"

I wuz hoping someday to ride with ya - keep up this sno-cat stuff, and I may not even get to meet ya.....

Remember - just because Victory makes snowmobiles, doesn't mean that a Vision has those characteristics....

thanks for the concern, I always plan to finish my rides to be able to ride again. I will say I did not feel the bike being squirrelly even across the slicky stuff. Only knowing what I was on kept me from being over confident, but that is how I ride anyways.

VVT: Anyone who rides with you is gonna need to order the "Pure Polaris Extra Big and Tall 3/4" Laminated Lexan Combat Shield" or have enough extra to be sure that they never see your tail-lights.

You know I thought I was the only crazy person on this site but you have got me beat. I took the same sort of ride in 1973 with a brand new 72 650 Yamaha in Omaha Nebraska. It was cold but seemed alright now 37 years later i realize that I was too young and dumb to know I could get hurt. I will go out ot the grarage and pet the bike and continue talking to myself about the summer to come as I am not going for a ride no I am not no matter what the vioices in my head say . Archie

just for the record...I rode yesterday to work at around noon, but then came home around 5pm to get the car to go back out. I'm concerned with the black ice and the chemicals they have put on the road that makes it slick. I DID NOT RIDE at all today as I had to leave early and come back home late. I am trying to keep my sanity through all of this as I'm down to riding the Vision or taking the wife unit's cage, and she works also. I just got to remember not to ride faster than my angels can fly...

people are reviewing the video like crazy, I don't think it will go viral, but a lot of views are coming from that silly site called VOGNET. The reason I referred to them as that is 1) I'll never be a member, and 2) I lurked over there because of the referral link and some of the most unkind things are being said. I sware it is a bunch of still wannabee harley riders pretending to be victory riders. what is up with people that don't understand a circumstance to bash, such a harley mentaility. I'm just about done with all this forum crap anyways. later.

Chris:

I read the comments on thevog as well and have to say that I was a little taken aback by some of the vehemence. I spent 30 years in Tennessee and for the first eight did not own a car. I rode regardless of weather and road conditions because I had to in order to keep my job. I didn't see this as irresponsible then and I don't now.

I see my wife's failure to keep her gas tank full and a case of water in her trunk as a much more irresponsible behavior that riding in the snow, given that we live in a desert area that also happens to be earthquake prone. I view guys riding in shorts and flip-flops as more irresponsible and I see that almost every day.

I have nothing but respect for you and I hope that you know my motivational poster and gentle ribbing were all done out of respect for the way that you live your life and your riding skills.

One of the oldest motorcycle runs is the famous Elephant Rally named after Hannibal's crossing of the Alps in winter with his war elephants. The conditions under which these guys travel is even more extreme than what we saw on this video and is their behavior is hailed as an achievement not viewed as insanity. If the rest of you haven't followed the link then I suggest that you google it you can find some pretty amazing photos of a lot of very hardcore bikers.

Chris, keep on doing what you do, the rest of us will just wish that we still had the balls, no matter what yours are made of.

AMEN Brother!!! Chris, I recall once riding my dirt/street bike up Mount Seymour here in Vancouver in winter time - AT NIGHT - and hitting a patch of ice about 3 blocks long - and good enough to skate on. Me and the bike parted ways, and we both slid for at least a block before coming to a stop. I picked up the bike - and went on my way - merrily dashing up and down the ski slopes - realizing only later that several hundred skiers would hate my guts the next day for the ruts and holes that I dug.
Craziness is a HUMAN trait - that I admire in those people that I like. Without it, we wouldn't be inventive or creative - or fun.

I am with you on your VOG references - remember when they chewed MY ass for suggesting that they should check out THIS site? I have seldom gone there since.... AND DON'T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT 'SIGNING OFF' HERE !!!!

I am here guys, I won't be leaving anytime soon. Thanks, I know I have friends here. One day, one day, we'll ride, on clear dry roads together...

the only reason I even went to VOGNET is because youtube tracks the referral. I was expecting some "he insane" comments to get a chuckle or two, but some of the comments were uneducated and reminincent of harley rider cracks that have no merit.

TP I love that MotorVaryderational post - that's a keeper!

Another note is that someone posted the video on the VTX site and I checked that out. I read comments I would expect from fellow riders...

Well finally after two-days and I'm getting the DT's Dilusional Throttles, you know when everywhere you go you pretend cranking a throttle...okay, maybe it's just me then. I know I have CTS, Cranking Throttle Syndrome, but that is another story. I'll be on my way to N.C. here in a little bit and then on to S.C. into the wee hours of the morning. Spend Christmas Eve with the daughter, and Christmas day with the out-laws, I mean in-laws. Then it is back home again, with the only catch, it is predicting to rain, rain, rain. The high is going to be the 50's down south so it might not be that bad, for me. But I might just get stuck at the daughters for Christmas day, ikes, I forgot, the ex-in-laws will be by so I guess it is riding in the rain for me.

Wishing all your Christmas's be bright! Do you know the Reason for the season!
