wife of 42 years was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma malignant brain tumor and asked for your prayers for her.

During the past months, our family has had a very trying time....Mayo for reduction of the tumor, Parkview in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, for radiation and chemo only to find out in the first MRI after the radiation and chemo that the tumor had doubled in size...again, after Mayo removed 90+ percent of it.

Shortly after the chemo and radiation, she fell down our steps going into the laundry room to get a robe and broke two vertebrate in her upper back, and had to go into a nursing home for three months for rehabilitation.

As a last ditch effort, they put her on Avastin, the newest cancer therapy drug on the market known to help these tumors (32% see a positive effect), and after the first MRI post Avastin, it shows the tumor is now back to it's original size of 4 cm x 4 cm, after growing to 7.5 x 7.5. The second MRI was done two weeks ago, and it shows the tumor size stable or slightly smaller yet as the MRI was done two weeks early due to the holidays with much of the internal swelling going down so now we may be able to get her off the steroids.

So we celebrated this Christmas, with her finally home complete with her family, my mom, and our

On this Sunday, I want to thank all of you for your prayers and kind words during this battle which continues to carry on. And may all of you have a blessed and safe New Year.

Smitty,
Man, I have thought about you and she throughout the year. Its one of those things where you dont want to ask how things are going, if you dont hear anything reported. I can honestly tell you that the group on here are some of the best quality people with the most support
and compassion for each other, even when we post that we did stupid things. Hearing todays news not only makes you both happy, but i can tell you , each of us is as thrilled to hear it as well. If you dont mind the invasion, how about supplying us with your address,
so we can bombard her with continuous well wishing cards and notes... Constant positive feedback is a great source of healing.
