Posts: 175 Hinton, Iowa | I just recently found a HOT DEAL on a Piggy backer trailer. 05 model. Been pulled about 2000 miles. Like new. ($250) Kids got me a hitch Doc for Christmas from Superfreak and I am almost set to go.Now I have some questions. Iam hearing about people using a pivoting hitch. I"ve read some people saying it's not something you really need but I can see where it might handle better and be safer. I thought I like to get opinions from the the place I get most of the answers to questions I have about motorcycling on the Vision. So all input and tips about pulling a trailer are welcome.
Thanks in advance. Ride Safe,Mike

| You understand correctly, you don't NEED a pivot, but I'd recommend one if you can afford it. Say you drop your bike by accident. The pivot will allow the trailer to sit flat on its wheels without twisting anything up.
You might also wish to cut a link on your retainer chains. If you take a bad enough fall or if your trailer gets away from you, you don't want the tongue diving into the ground and tossing you off.
You likely will hardley notice the trailer back there.
One thing to watch out for. If you have to go up a steep incline where you need to turn abruptly at the top while the trailer is still on the incline, be VERY careful. The trailer will want to pull the bike straight over on its side. |

| I agree, Teach has got it right, "you don't need it but I'd recommend it." Best way to look at it is not "IF you drop it but WHEN you drop it." I haven't dropped mine yet but but I'm more comfortable knowing I've done everything I can to be ready for it when it happens. |

Much cheaper and does essentially the same thing. |

Posts: 54 Bancroft Ontario, Canada | I have had both the conventional and pivot hitches on my trailers and definitely like the pivot......looking at these photo......doesn't look very substantial construction....small pivot pin at base of ball....are you folks with this hitch seeing any weakness in this construction??
Thanks
