Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Who's going? Okay, you guys and gals down south you better take a ride, no excuse. We've got one planned here, an annual event out to Blackstone, Va. Some of us are meeting at Catlin's and departing at 9:00am to head out to the Waffle House (I think, we did the last two years) to meet up with a bunch more. Then it is off to Blackstone to the Farmer's Cafe for New Years day brunch.
We'll give a report of how things went tomorrow.
Happy New Year one and all. Please be safe, I don't think "drink" and "responsibly" go together, never did with me when I used to drink, so make sure someone is taking care of you after you start, if you do.
I want everyone to finish 2010 like they finished 2009, alive.
Keep our Armed Forces in heart and mind as they stand guard. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Great ride to Blackstone and had a great time with friends that ride all kind of bikes. About 30 bikes showed up, out of those about 4 trikes, 2 homemade and 2 Wing kits. There were quit a few Vic's this year with 4 of them being Visions. The rest were HD, though I think there were a Wing or two a Shadow and a VTX I think. Some folks wiennied out and rode there enclosed four wheel bikes, didn't even ride with the windows down. And some almost opted to go a few miles down the road for breakfast verses going the 40 miles to Blackstone because of pending rain. But in the end we all went to Blackstone and had great time.
Happy New Year again. Keep the stories coming of your New Year Day ride. You can even chime in with a "woulda, coulda, shoulda" we'll try not to bust your chops to hard...

| I just completed a major renovation of my house and only Wednesday go my furniture out of the garage thus clearing space for me to get my Vision back from the dealership where it has been since October 15th. I'd been stuck riding my wife's Suzuki Burgman 650 up until the snow started flying here around the middle of December, but now that the ice and snow are here it is unlikely that I will get in any real riding time even after my Vision is back home next week. |

Posts: 804 Perry Hall, MD | Couldn't get away with the 4.5 hour one way trip to Blackstone.
Did go out for a ride and stopped to visit a friend who is still riding a bike like I traded up from. He told his Mrs. over and over again that he wants a Vision. Offered to let them take it for a ride, but she wasn't about to take the bait (claimed it was too cold).
Great to start the new year with a ride on a VV. |

Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | I was the "weenie" who took my Victory truck on the new years day ride. At the strong suggestion of my dealer, we had just re-installed the lower wind deflectors since getting them blacked out the day before new years and my dealer was concerned with the dampness and cold temperature, the fact that the adhesive was on the bike less then 24 hours on a cold part, it wasnt a good idea to take the bike out for fear of a deflector flying off mid highway. Better to have supported the group and gone by truck, then to have sat it out entirely. (FYI the dealership owners wife rode with us, so we had royalty in the truck) |

| We went on a 250 mile ride New Years day. There was 8 of us and the temp. was 56 when we left and the high here in Arizona was 63. We ride on this day every year and it a ride to start the year off right. I am glad we do not have snow in Phoenix Az. I would not like to be our fellow rides in the eastern part of the USA. I wish you luck in 2010 and hope the snow melts soon so you can ride. |
