Posts: 3204 Memphis | I've heard that the SSG paint needs a special factory clearcoat that has metalflake in it. Did you get that too? I just did my Midnight Cherry and didn't need the special clearcoat. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Ouch. How good is your relationship with your dealer? Knowing what we know about the customer service hotline through Victory your best bet might be to see if your dealer can make a call to a corporate paint guy to help figure out what's going on. Maybe you got the wrong pearl (mislabeled) that goes with another base coat. I'm totally grasping here but I would do what I had to do to get in touch with a factory paint rep. Be cool headed about it and give your dealer a chance to fix it for you. If that doesn't work, freak out.

Posts: 50 hudson, IL United States | are you painting them yourself? if you are paying a body shop to do this they should get it right. if you are doing it do you have any/much paint time under your belt. with light colors with metallic and pearl you have to play with your air pressure. then on top of that if you put a thick amount of paint on, it will look different then if you put a thin amount on. you just have to play with it. if you still cant get it close i would call a paint rep or a auto body place. |

Posts: 266 Stockton, Ca. | I agree with Lil Vic. Get a professional painter involved with the project. I had issues matching Midnight Cherry but my body shop was successful without using factory paint. They mixed it themselves. It did take a week of experimentation but we ended up with a perfect match. The clear coat really finishes it nicely. |

I went thru this issue with my front fender.
Great friend of mine owns two body shops:
1. Tried to color match with the camera - no dice.
2. Sent to PPG lab in Detroit - no dice.
3. Bought Vic paint you bought and it is perfect.
I would highly suggest returning the paint for another batch. At $170 it should be perfect.
+1 to what SongFan said about trying your dealer first. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Pig-Pen, I told my buddy who painted my bike your story. He said he would bet money that the tank that mixed your base coat still had traces of the previous batch/color still suspended in the thinner they used to clean the tank. When they mixed your base coat the traces of the previous batch got mixed in. He also said that silver is by far the hardest color in the world to match but like ScoreBo said, the factory paint sould be perfect. |

how much is too deep so I know how much snow to order up for you?
When you come bring the panel above the seat from your bike (that the warning sticker was on), I'll grab the one from my bike also (assuming the snow will be too deep to ride mine in). I want to compare both with your freshly sprayed samples, also will confirm/deny your suspicions that our SSG's are different.

Posts: 40 Bellevue, NE | I saw a picture somewhere of a Vision that had the trim painted to match the SSG and I didn't think it matched at all.
Have seen some of the Cherry and they seemed to match perfectly.
Go figure! |

Posts: 324 New Orleans, La, | Often times variations in the finished product of a paint job are caused when one or several of the products are not compatible. To get the right result painters will use only like products ie. the paint, thinner/reducer, catalyts, ect. all from the same manufactuer. It may not sound like a big deal, but it does make a difference. With that said, do you know who makes the paint for Victory? Did, when you painted mix other company products? |

Ordered touch up paint and that don"t match either.
