Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | I made a pattern of my stock tips while I was home last week and while I was at the out of town job I roughed these out over a few beers after work. I still have some fine tuning to do but they give a pretty good impression for what they cost ($0) let me know what you think-Brian

Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | There's no secret how to make 'em-they're hand carved from 1/8" aluminum scrap I had leftover from a guitar pick guard I made and engine turned. I made the pattern from a picture of the tips at the PurePolaris site and enlarged it until it fit inside my template.Transfered the patterns onto the aluminum with an engraver, then shaped the outside with a jigsaw, hole sawed out the holes and shaped with a rattail file, and polished up. They actually have a nice tight friction fit in place. Tonight after a ride I plan on painting inside the tips with flat black engine header paint and a few dabs of high temp silicone behind the plate to hold everything in place. Just something to keep my hands busy-Brian
I can see from the picture I added I need to do some alignment work before final attachments.

| How well will the paint stick without an alodine coating? There is supposed to be a spray primer you can use but I haven't found it around me. I would hate to see all your work end up with peeling paint.
They do look good. |
