If you saw how wavey mine is, you'd be tempted to just throw it away.
If you saw all the colors in mine when you are wearing your polorized
sunglasses, you'd be tempted to throw it away.
I can hardly wait for a real windshield to be put out by a 3rd party.
Give it until at least the end of 2008?

Oh yeah, while I'm bashing the company that built my beautiful bike, they didn't think an 880# bike needed a center stand? I really miss that. Made for easy cleanup of rear wheel, sprocket, etc.

Posts: 293 Arkansas | I understand that Victory depleted its inventory of shields a week or so ago and sent me the only one (of about a dozen) that was good enough to send out. The others were sent back to Sportech. My two previous windshields I sent back through my dealer were sent to some Victory engineers to inspect. Don't know what the resolution will be, but I'll bet that they have some decent windshields in the future. But, who knows how long it will take for Sportech to heal from its spanking or to find a new supplier. Admittedly, this is "grapevine" stuff; but it's credible enough that I'm sure all the grapes are on the same vine! |

Us test riders will continue to hold the distinction of making the next generation Vision the best bike to ever ride down the highway. Knowing that, isn't that reward enough? Besides, having all the wavy color makes it look like a video game while dodging the space invaders (cagers).
Also, I'm hoping they'll come out with a RHEISM for the Vision. (Road Hazard Eliminator, with Idiot Seeking Missile.

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I've not done my letter yet, but there will be a few things I want to address. I'm picking up the Vision from the care center in a few minutes and hopefully they've resolved the coughing. If not, Victory will have a customer on them to make something right. My understanding that some have gone directly to Victory and there has been an "Oh well, that's the way it is." response, which is totally unexceptable. But I do feel they are addressing these issues with the next line to come out, but the question will remain as to whether or not there will be any restitution for the original buyers. Also, I've still not figured out as to whether I paid for chrome forks and didn't get them or they were taken off. I know my invoice they are not listed, but the price is no different than when they were advertised with them. So, did they just take the chrome forks off and not take the price down, or were they a free add in to begin with????
By the way, I've got the taller windshield on mine and it seems okay except around the edges, it is distorted. I can't afford polarized glasses so I don't see no colors.

Posts: 266 Stockton, Ca. | If anyone is interested I just received an email from Cee Bailey and they will have an aftermarket windshield for the Vision out at the end of May. I have had one on my BMW for 3 years and it is still a great windshield. They were originally an aircraft windshield company but now also produce some of the best motorcycle windshields available. They are thick, sturdy and easy to clean. They also polish up nicely if scratched. |

| If you are handy you can make your own.
I have been fabricating windshields out of stock GE Lexan sheet for
HD's and snowmobiles for many years.
OEM pricing on windshields is rediculous, particularly
because they get damaged so easily.
As long as there are no complex curves which require heating
to 350 degrees F over a form to mold the sheet it's pretty simple and shoudl not be intimidating
if you have done any fabricating in the past.
The Vision windshield is in the simplest category.
I use a variable speed reciprocating saw with a fine Bosch cutting blade made for sheet plastic. (not a sawzall by the way) Leave the protective paper stuck on both sides of the sheet, mark out the exact symmetrical dimensions with a fine marker and cut along the line. Drill the holes with
a perimeter scoring drill bit for making the mounting holes.
The blades made for the purpose cut so well there is no need for sanding or filing of the edge.
At 6'2" and mostly torso (like a Gorilla) I have found the wind protection more than adequate
with the stock windshield b the way.
I will have to do something about the glare from the dash panel which I have encountered like others. I do not want to paint the dash panel though as someone suggested. Unless I can get
the Midnight Cherry in a rattle can - but that will reflect too.

| I wonder if it would be possible to modify a windshield made for another touring bike to fit the Vision?
I have a Tulsa windshield in my garage for my GL1800 Goldwing that I won't be needing anymore since I'm trading it in on the Vision when it comes in. I wonder if the curvatures are similar, if so then it would simply be a matter of trimming the bottom Goldwing mounting holes off and adding the pattern for mounting to the Vision.
Now I really can't wait for my Vision to get here, was told that it's now due in April 5th........then I can see of this will work, the Tulsa is one of the best aerodynamic windshields made for the Goldwing, if you don't mind looking through a windshield though instead of over it.
This is what a tinted tall version looks like on a yellow (the ugliest color) GL1800 Goldwing:
