should, but not always. it's worth the investment. I do use chrome caps all the time though if that counts for anything...

I bought angled versions and put them on last week. Got them from Kurveygirl on eBay or here:

I've been thinking that when I change tires I might go with the internal pressure monitoring valve stem. I like the idea of the monitoring systems but have heard a lot of bad stuff about the externals that go on like a valve cap.

Thanks John! I've been looking for a picture of that type of valve stem installed on a bike and it's good to see the tire pressure monitoring unit on it too! How is the clearance between the TPMS transmitter and the brake caliper?

The end of the sensor is over the flat part of the wheel. So there is PLENTY of room. SongFan had a thread about these awhile ago. I tried them and they work.

As for the sensor, I posted that very question over at webbikeworld.com and Rick the editor replied. See J.K. 8/09. With the metal valve stems, I am less concerned about an issue with them. With both stems now pointing at towards the right side, putting air in is a breeze.

Sonic, to answer your question - I would definitely replace the valve stems. We only have two tires and I would hate to have a failure over sure a cheap part. A word of caution, the factory rubber stems are shorter than most motorcycle shops carry. So you think it is tight now to add air, it would be another 1/4 higher (min) with standard stems. The back tire is really a bitch on our bikes unless you jack it up.

Thanks for the pics and update John.  I'll probably be replacing both tires just prior to the AVR this summer and will swap out the valve stems then.  I'm also running the TireGard TPMS and am very happy with it.  (Review on that shortly.)

A little roll forwards or backwards makes the valve stem easily accessible.

I use the clip on gage and it works great. I do like those valve stems in the pics, certainly a viable solution.

11.3mm from KurveyGirl. http://kurveygirl.com/shop/index.php?cPath=27

These were taken on my 2008 VV. I hope the 11.3 still works on the new rims.

Arkainzeye I used stems like that on my 07 Harley and they both failed. Both times were on the interstate and had to get a ride home, get trailer, go back for bike, then load with a flat. Thankfully no close calls or wreck, but it could have been BAD since wife was on the back for one of them.

Those are meant to be used with a support bracket, which is already on the Goldwing. Without the bracket, they'll fail. The stock rubber ones that Honda installs are known to fail anyway, unless the owner zipties the valve stem to the bracket.

Chris, just get the ones from KurveyGirl. Two of them are only $29. You're going to spend $22 for the ones you listed. The KurveyGirl ones are solid. No movement at all.

HEADS UP EVERYONE... these KurveyGirl valve stems DO NOT work with the vision Black wheels.. the size of the black wheels valve stem is the exact size of the valve (the part you check for air pressure).

i should add the size for the 2008 vision is not the same size for the 2011.. from what i read the 2008 has the same size as the goldwing. my 2011 vision with Black wheel do Not have the same setup. the whole in the wheel is much smaller than a gold wings. i went to the dark side today and a buddy of mine that was also replacing his GW car tire to another Ct (28000 miles on the ct btw) his valve stem was much wider than mine when we looked at the holes in each others wheels...

i already have the CT on the wheel. it was kind of a now or never thing. i got a chance for a automotive shop to install my car tire for Free.. i just used dynabeads... i did want to replace the valve stem for easier checking and adding air.. i guess ill have to wait a few years now... i just wanted to share this info..

on a side note, i removed my 08 rear wheel 3-4 times in the past. this time when removing the 11 rear wheel i noticed a few changes... 1) the shock bolts are different. on the 08 they were black and have an 8 on the head.. these one the 11 are yellowish/brass colored and say 10.9. i also noticed the rear pulley is very differnt in how it mounts. on the 08 the wheel had threads for the pulley to sit on. but on the 11 wheel the pulley sits on the wheels then you thread the bolts into the wheel. , then of course the valve stem Size had changed. one last thing i noticed was when i had to remove the shock bolts and rear axle bolt it was on there way way tighter than my 08... all my bolts on the 08 were easy to remove...
