Posts: 126 Meadow, Texas | I say Eureka just because so far it looks like I have a fix for the problem with the saddlebags popping open. After lengthy review of the locking mechanism and the door, checking out the alignment of the mounting, spring tension and all sorts of other pieces - I think I have got it.
It is due to the length of the cable that pulls the switch to open the door. It is just a little too short.
My fix was to pop the plastic grommets away from the bracket which allowed just a minor extension to the cable and this also allowed the switch to no be constantly pulled.
That was all I did and it has seemed to work.
Now with this said - the next time I'm at my dealer I will pass this on to them and they can fix it properly but if you are having problems in this area, this is a quick and easy fix. Pop the plastic grommets that keep the cable from scraping the metal bracket. These are the small white elongated plastic pipe looking pieces that are approximately 1/4 inch long (?).
Like I said this is a quick fix and I will let my dealer know and replace the bad piece.
Hope this helps someone else - My bags were popping open at all the wrong times. Namely every time I rode.

Mine have never popped open when riding, and that would have me in a constant state of paranoia.

Mine have not popped open in over a year since I fixed them. I still check them through the mirrors several times during every ride.
