Posts: 3204 Memphis | Tornado warnings have been going off here in Memphis since 3:30 this morning. I was scheduled to go into work at 11:00. I called in at 10:30 (with tornado sirens blaring in the background) and told the watch desk that I would be there when the lastest round of tornado warnings passed through. I pulled out of my driveway in a downpour at 11:15 but by the time I got to work there was a patch of blue sky over the airport. I walked into the control room and everybody turned around. One guy said "Did you ride the bike in?" I said "Nope, a man's got to know his limitations." Half the room threw their arms up, the other half started laughing. The guy who asked me the question turned to the guy next to him and said "You owe me 10 bucks." Victory Vision - Even when it's not there, they're still talking about it. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure whether to be offended or flattered by the guy who bet that I would ride in through tornadoes. Who does he think I am, VaRyder!? |

Posts: 2118 Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | That's a BIT like me.... I was supposed to attend a May Day Rally this morning for motorcyclists protesting poor 'bike parking' in Vancouver.
I got up at 6:30 am - looked at the rainy black clouds, checked the forcast, saw the temperature was 42F - looked at my young Co-Pilot laying in bed - and decided that 'horny' was better than 'wet and cold' - so I gave up my 'bike' ride for one of a different sort.
I know, 'chickenshit' - well, YOU tell me what you would do! We ALL know what Chris would do.....

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Songfan, my walls are rattling right now from the latest Super Cell to move through. I thought about going for a ride, maybe one like DoneTracey (when you type it like that, it reflects the above statement). Though, I think I was the only one on the road Friday, with Scary Rain on the horizon. I figure you were there somewhere, but we don't seem to cross paths too much. My co-workers were giving me a bunch of grief for riding on Friday. But I didn't even get wet. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | I could have gotten away with riding in today with only about 10 miles of heavy rain on the way in. A couple of waves came through during the day but it was clear and muggy on the way home. Round 2 of the storms is firing up tonight so the Vision will stay parked again tomorrow. Rain, I can handle. Those long, thin red radar returns with little hooks on the southwestern end of them will make me fold like a house of cards every time. Arkansas is getting hammered right now and Nashville made national news with the flooding. Will make up for lost riding time starting Monday. Ride safe. Hey Po, I rode in Friday also. Had the whole parking lot to myself. Hwy 51 has been a storm magnet all day. I saw that cell go over you on radar a few minutes ago. Hunker down, tomorrow will be aaaallllll day long.
