I purposely left the license plate light off my trailer during the build because I didn't like the looks of the traditional lights. My trailer is bright aluminum and the cheap little white domes just didn't go with it.
I found a strip of super bright weather proof LED's at Autozone for $3.79. I wired them to the tail lights, pulled the tape off the back, and stuck it under the tail light housing.
It allowed me to keep the whole lighting system LED's so I did not need an isolator on the bike. The strip is thin enough to be hidden when viewed from a normal standing position behind the trailer. Even if you bend down low enough to see it, the LED's are in a clear strip so you really don't see much.
The license plate bulb on my Vision is burned out. I'm considering replacing it with the same strip of LED's, only shorter.
