Bragging rights to the first to guess the make and model of this motorcycle. Extra bragging rights for the year of manufacture.

Posts: 523 seattle, wa | Urals look cool but they sure aren't up to todays standards. They are good for backroad poking around, but they can't handle freeway travel very well. My brother bought one about 4-5 years ago and its had the engine replaced 2 times, been in the shop more often than not. There's always something wrong with it. |

That could be the reason for the bicycle, kinda like a life boat when she gives up. |

Posts: 215 Boydsville, AR United States | I tease mine, telling her I getting a British model with the side car mounted on the left. Too much bad mouth, and we just drift over the center line slightly, and ............ LOL. She doesn't see the humor. I can't figure out why. But the again, I'm just me. |

Posts: 19 Cheyenne, Wyoming | actually it is a Ural Patrol
only the patrol and gear-up have the out wheel drive.
these machines will go almost any where you care to ride them.
they do have some interesting quirks.
My wife has a 2002 tourist custom classic, without the out drive.
I have had to replace the fuse center and much of the electrical system, replace the stock ignition system with the modern Ducuti electronic ignition and use chrome-molly washers in many places between the soft castings in many places in the engine to get accurate, constant and lasting torque on the fasteners.
Juli my wife just recently went with me to place a deposit on our new CC and she managed to go just over 75 MPH down will with a tail wind, Juli commented that she thought the Ural was missing, I told her I just thought it was hitting the rev limiter in the ignition.
Neat machines designed for third world use. they are fairly reliable if you use a robust maintenance routine and don't mind the weeping of oil. you just have to realize that they have limits that do not fit the typical USA transport system.
