| I'm installing the XM radio kit from Victory. I want to mount the antenna on top of the visor rather than under it in order to improve reception. The antenna itself is mounted to a piece of flat aluminum. I was wondering if that piece of aluminum is necessary or not. If I could get rid of it then I could attach the antenna directly to the visor for a cleaner look. Does the mounting plate enhance reception in some way or is it there just to facilitate mounting? Thanks, Marc

The dealer installed mine underneath (supposedly in accordance with XM's instructions) and reception awful. I had them move it to the top of the visor and now it works perfectly. There's no reason to use the mounting plate - just Velcro it to the visor. |

| I went ahead and mounted it with the aluminum plate since nobody responded and I wasn't sure. I painted it flat black so its barely noticeable. The reception is excellent!
