My finisher did this on some Long Horn skulls for the rodeo here in Texas. He did a chrome one and a red and blue (Texans football)
The finnish was amazing. He did spend a few hours sanding the skulls to provide a smooth surface but the outcome was spectacular.

Chris, thanks for sharing this. I went to Dirk's website (www.ChromeSolutions.de) and the website is under construction. I want to do this process on my winter plow machine (ATV) wheels. I might just take the wheels to get powder coated.

As the only guy on the website and one of the few in the country who does after market chroming all i got to say to you guys is this.

1. Good luck with that, enjoy it while it lasts.
2. Dont come bitching to me when it chips peels off and delaminates.
3. You get what you pay for. A 5.00 can of chrome paint will get you a 5.00 chrome paint job.

25k bike and 5 buck owners............... Welcome to America !!

Although I own a fairly nice Ride I'm always looking for inexpensive alternatives to upgrades...not only for my Vision but for other numerous projects I indulge in. I don't claim to be a millionaire..I just like options. I did work in the chrome field for 10 years....and as far as I know I don't believe you can chrome plastic parts....VaParadox please correct me if I am wrong?? In addition to this can you tint chrome?? I try not to insult folks on this forum as there is just a myraid of information here...and I don't want to poop on somebody else's info, research or ideas....and just FYI I do have $27 in my pocket.

It seems that some people will never understand:

Just because I own a $25K motorcycle and want to save money where I can doesn't make me cheap, it makes me smart, especially in this day and age of people thinking they can overcharge customers because "It's a custom part".

People are finally realizing what some have known for many years, that being, if you want a custom part DO NOT go to a motorcycle custom part manufacturer or finisher, go use a JOB SHOP where you can get prices or bids on getting the part made from competing shops. You do so and you will be very surprised on what find out about the true cost of getting something made and finished and just how much the "Custom Shops" have been raping people because it is a "custom motorcycle part". I know, while I am not a job shop myself (I am a production shop with a proprietary product line) I know many owners of job shops that can do and make just about anything. If you have an idea for a part try talking to the people at this website: http://americanjobshop.com/ they can get you a price on all aspects of making a custom part and are not limited to simply working in a two dimensional plane.

I to am interested I can understand that the process may not be prefect but I would like some chrome on my bike and I am not sure that you can chrome plastic either please share with us if you can and what would the cost be to chrome all the gray stuff on my bike. I can pull it and send it to you if the price is right. I believe that we should support members who have businesses. Please share the doability and the cost. thanks Archie
