Posts: 101 Cold Lake Alberta Canada | I have 10000 miles on mine and just keep track of the wear markers. Although I still have a bit more than 1/32 to the wear markers I have ordered my new Darkside tire. I should get abot 2000 more out of it as long as its not too hot. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | car tire = darkside, there are numerous threads on the subject.
Stock E3s from day one on mine. About 12,000 - 15,000 on rear, 18,000 to 23,000 front. I have found running around 40 - 42psi in front and rear will give me the best mileage. Got 70,300 on the bike today and will be changing out the rear in a week or so, just at the wear bars at around 12,500. I'm leaving to go to Barstow on the 25th, I don't think it'll make it with the current tire. |

Posts: 244 Fargo, ND | I've got about 9,500 on mine. The front still looks good, and the tread in the tire center doesn't look bad, but there is obvious cupping on the outer rounded area of the rear tire. Anyone else experience this? It certainly isn't from riding a lot of twisties. Anyone that's been to ND knows that! |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | unless it is extreme cupping, it is normal for the E3s, at least all of mine done it from bias to radial. It has never affect the life of the tire. |

Posts: 266 Hartland, , WI | I am bummed that I am going to be replacing my original tire by 10,000. I don't ride really all that hard anymore...rode my LT BMW way harder with Metzler's and easily got another 5,000 miles over these E3's.
Good news was on the internet...surfing for a while and come across a big tire seller in OH and called them up...talked to the motorcycle tire guru. Told him what I have and am disappointed...how about the Metzlers? Really only three mfg. out there for a tire this size...but the good news was!
He said he heard about the quick used up original E3 but that they improved the compound and he had been hearing really good feedback on the improvement...so I'll try them one more time. Looks like almost one front tire to two rear for me. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | that's about right Vinner1. keep your air pressure up, that will do more to your tire than anything. if you're hitting 10,000 on the rear, everything beyond that is free tire in my book. |

Posts: 162 Northern NJ | Yesterday I checked my rear tire and at only 7,000 the wear markers are showing but only on the right side. What's up with that? |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | it is how you are loaded, how you ride, or where you ride, most likely. If you are sitting on your left, pack too heavy on the left could cause that. Not to worry though, shift everything to the opposite side and ride for a while. |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | If your looking for the wear indicators on your tire, this will help.
You can locate the wear indicator by an arrow (note: depending on brand of tire, the arrow may be a little Michelin man as on Michelin tires, the Dunlop logo on Dunlop Tires, a viper head on Avon tires, etc.) on the sidewall or on the extreme edge of the tread area. Follow this arrow onto the tread and look for the raised portion in between the tread groves. If this raised portion becomes flush with the tread, it is time for a new tire.

| For those that are new to the Vision you will find it very easy to find great deals on motorcycle tires by simply looking for tires that are designed for the Honda GL1800 Goldwing. The tires for the Wing are exactly the same size as used on the Vision and have the same speed ratings but tires other than the Dunlop E3s might not have the same load ratings but using common sense dictates that if they have a load range for the heavier Goldwing then they should work just fine on the Vision.
I've posted this before but here it is again:

As far at those that ride on the Darkside, well, if you have nothing good to say................. |

| Always 10k from the rear and 15 for the front. I was having very good wear results with the Avon Cobra's AV71 & 72. |
