New Bohemia, VA | I wasted 5 bucks on the stupid baggers magazine. The first thing that caught my eye was a harley dubbed America's most beautiful motorcycle. Okay, it is customed out, but I still prefer my Vision. In one of the photos is standing Arlen, and you can see him all in the bike.
So I thumb over and I see an Ice Blue Vision along with some other dresser bikes, HD I think mostly, so now the mag's got my attention. There it is, pictures and stories about a ride from LA to Sturgis through the desert. So I lay down 5 bucks to get me some education.
Sorry, no education, no mention about the Vision or any of the bikes. Actually it is a bunch of whinning about putting on rain gear and it doesn't rain, and stopping in Baker, Ca to see the world's largest rectal therometer and say, "Oh my goodness, it's 101 degrees. Then it rattles on about half eaten ice cream and ending up the second day at Hanksville, UT, a mere 700 miles from L.A. Sounds like a weiny whiney ride, and to make it worse as if it is suppose to be a cliff-hanger, it is in two parts but I won't get fooled again. Mike Calabro is the author I think, and he whines on about 3,000 miles ending up in Chicago by himself like more than a week later.
I learned not to buy bagger ever again.
It does mention some stops, and one is seeing Fort Irwin from afar, that's were I'll be in the middle of for two weeks before finishing up my 6,000 mile trip, solo. I wonder if it will rain, waaa, I hope so... |

Linwood, MI | Bah. Lightweights. I did 3000 miles in one weekend on my Vision. Got lots of rain/drizzle and unseasonable cold weather for the whole trip, except in Tulsa, OK, where it was actually sunny and hot. Mother Nature must like Tulsa...
Sadly, it was a trip with a mission, so all expressway. No sight-seeing, no interesting stops. |

New Bohemia, VA | I'll be rollin' through Amarillo on I-40. I had hoped earlier to ride to Dallas then down to see my son this coming weekend, but the California trip came up. So I'm flying in and out of Dallas, one day trip, and then the following week rolling to the Mojave. |

New Bohemia, VA | I'll have to pick some side adventures on the way out if I make good time to ride some old road Route 66. I knew I-40 for the most part was along some of the 66 road, but didn't know how much. There are signs in Barstow that says Route 66 and I've been there quite a few times, but it never meant nothing to me in a cage. On the big two-wheeler I can have a little braggin' rights.
As far as the USB, my iPod is toast, my radio for some reason is losing reception, so I guess I'll be old-skoolin' it. I don't use cruise anymore, though it does work, just an overpriced throttle lock for me at the moment, and I'm thinking of taking the shield off or splurgin' for a blade. But I wish I had me an old "runnin" Indian for this trip, but the Vision will do. I just hope the tar snakes out west ain't no meaner than the ones here in old dominion. |

Cold lake Alberta | Is this the article or trip where they lost a rider on a GoldWing? Guy lost his arm due to the crash I think...if so, there is two articles out on the ride. |

New Bohemia, VA | it didn't mention anyone losing an arm in the first part, but it may go on with that in the second part. As I mentioned I couldn't find anything that gave an indication this was a really bad ride, just heat, a rain that never came and no ice cream, I just wasn't following it. Maybe that's the punch-line, which would make it a bad ride overall.
I do recall what you're talking about that happened about a year ago. Saw that on blog, maybe this is the first time it has been in a rag. |

New Bohemia, VA | I'll double check as the only thing that caught my attention was the Vision and the hell ride after I read about the beautiful bike piece. It might be last months, but this was only part one. I'm not sure if I saw a wing in there, I did see an Ice Blue Vision and some other bikes, Harleys I think.
