Posts: 6 Milton, WA | I completed a modification to my Vision based on the 99 LED brake light mod. Instead of using a single 99 LED strip, I used one 30 LED strip for the brake light and two 24 LED strips for the turn signals. I also bought two 9 LED amber strips for the mirrors but I haven't installed them yet.
If this works out right, here is a day time video of the lights. |

Notice that you are still running stock brake light setup - you might want to check out the following thread:

First and foremost I really like the extra LED's you installed. Nice video! I am thinking about the same thing myself.
You might consider doing the middle brake light mod as linked above. You do not have to cut the wires ....just back them out....before you start raise the windshield in case you blow a fuse.

Posts: 255 New Brunswick , Canada | Great Mod , srredbead ,,,Will add it to my to do list...Did you need any load resistor for the LED's
Do you have any pictures of where did u run the wires , splices ..ect.
Where did u ordered the parts ?
This Mod looks more simple then installing the KYR.. kit and causing problems to your cruise control |

I have the Ky-4710 mod on my Vision and zero problems with my cruise control. If you side tap (not cut) the brake, left turn and right turn wires the KY-4710 mod will have no affect on the cruise control. After that you hook the ground wire to ground, the power that now feeds the trunk bulbs, the left trunk bulb and the right trunk bulb and you are done.
Those that have cruise issues and need load resistors are either cutting the brake, left turn and right turn wires and/or are replacing the stock filament lamps with LED bulbs. In both cases the system will see the lack on current and think there is a lamp out , killing the cruise control.
Here is what I wrote after the mod was done.

No need to add load resistors. I side spliced into the original wires just like radioteacher mentioned.
I will take some pictures of how I ran the wires. I not only spliced into the existing turn/brake light wires, I also added a single plug so if I take the trunk off I only have to disconnect two plugs. |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | Speaking only about the trunk lights, not the lower V lights, it is an option to either have the trunk lights flash when applying the brake or not.
There is a small wire that has "FLASH" written on it. You plug that wire into the proper plug on the red heat shrinked block to make them flash.
I like the flash option. I see people pulling up on me fast in my mirrors and I will let go and reapply the brake to make them flash....I have had stop very quickly at that point.
Only once did it not work as intended. That cage driver was pissed that I was using his road and stopped right on my tail. I took off in the left lane and pulled over to the right after passing the first car. That way I would have a cage behind me I could trust as he went flying by me.
I am not in the mood to fight....I just want to make it home safe. Racing this idiot would not be smart.

Lojak,
I have the Ky-4710 mod on my Vision and zero problems with my cruise control.
+1 Replaced all front and back bulbs with Led's as well as installing the Ky-4710 mod....zero problems with anything. Signals blink a little faster then normal.(doesnt bother me)...didn't want to install a resistor to slow them down....kinda defeats the reason of installing them (less amperage draw)...but like I said zero problems with cruise control or anything else.

Posts: 804 Perry Hall, MD | Yesterday I installed the Hopkins 46255 trailer wiring isolator and moved the 4710 for the trunk LEDs to feed off of it as well. Not that anyone seems to be having any load issues, but since there are actually more lights on the trunk then on my trailer (also LEDs) it just seemed to make sense. |

The experience is learning from others.
The most common fuse I hear of blown is the one that goes to the Horn and Windshield. I have not done it myself but I could have so anytime I go to work on the bike I raise the windshield as Step #1.
Learn from others...and I have learned a lot from you guys here on Vision-Riders.com.....giving back is my way of saying "Thanks!"

| Puddle Jumper, I am military and am going overseas. I have a 2009 Victory Vision, that I can't wait to show it off in Japan. the problem comes in when I need to have amber turn signals on the rear of the bike. I was looking at your mods and have a tone of questions. So I will start:
Where did you get the lights?
Do they have other colors? (Amber for turn)
Do you have any hints for the installation?
Do they affect your cruise control?
More to come I am sure.
Thank you for your help. |

I am not sure who your post is directed to.....Puddle Jumper is a status of how many posts a person has made. Look for their user name in red.
There are a number of riders that have replaced the V in the back with one that is red and Clear at the top. You just replace the white bulbs with amber ones. You can do the same with the front turn signals.
These can be ordered from any dealer (At least I think so)
Ride Safe and thank you for your service! |

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | You can also use amber LED's in the trunk gap per the 99 LED modification. That's what I did last year when I put a 30 LED red in the center for brake lights, and two 24 LED amber just below the stock trunk running lights. You can also use 30 LED for the turns, but the 24 LED match the length of the trunk lights. The 30 LED is a good match for the chrome trim in the center. I also used the Customdynamics Stingerz. Get the Positaps from Customdynamics. They make the installation very easy--no spicing, and no cutting of wires.
The LEDs are available in many colors, including red and amber.

Posts: 222 Barefoot Bay, FL United States | I know this was posted a while ago, but I just picked up three stingerz, one red for the brake, and two orange for the turn/flash signals. Do you have them tied to a 4710 set up, or are they direct?
Thanks, witchbiker 2008 Vic Vis Tour |
