Hi, I recently broke the lid catch. Not the female latch, but the lid catch (male) on the bottom right hand of the lid. Brloke off clean, and I would have to buy new lid and seal, 160 dollars. Has any one built a replacment? or know of any parts at a resonable price? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've heard of some expensive parts but $160 is INSANE! I don't know how you could construct a male adapter on that side and I know for a fact that nothing will adhere to that plastic. I would try and see if you can locate on off a damaged bike. Even if it wasn't the right color you could fix that for cheap.

I had the exact same thing happen on mine. I tried to get a warranty claim on it and no go. What I did for a quick fix was to run a piece of velcro along the the lip at the forward portion of the glove box. Then i cut it where the glove box opens and just put another piece over that. Worked so well that my new one is still in the box. Just have not gotten around to changing it out. $115.00, I did not get the gasket, will reuse the old one (razor knife and crazy glue) or buy new gasket mateial from and auto parts store.

Mine broke while at the shop one day. The wrench plastic-welded it back on. Haven't had any problems with it.

Mine broke today. Dealer quoted $121. Not sure if that included gasket. going to try and do a temp fix before I spend that kinda money.

Mine broke too, used a little JB Weld and it's held perfectly, with no issues at all, in fact, it works better now that when new.

Thanks. I had JB Weld in my hand and put it back for some kinda epoxy. I'll go back and get it.

OK, this is what I ended up doing. I had a clean break right at the base of the latch. They fit back together perfect. I didn?t want to try JB weld in the joint for fear of changing the angle if the weld prevented the pieces from fitting back together in perfect alignment. I used Permatex super glue to glue it back together. It seamed like a solid joint, but due to the small contact area of the two pieces, I didn't trust it. I than used the JB weld to reinforce around the base and up the latch past the break. I am waiting for it to cure before I try it on the bike. I think if I have to trim the JB weld, it will be minimal. I'll let you know in about 3 more hours.

I looks neater in person. Darn high res cameras.

Looks great. If you painted it black the fix would disappear.

As my Dad would say "Cut to fit. Paint to match!"

Works perfect. No trimming required. Good idea on the paint. I have black touch-up for my car someplace. Maybe after a ride...

I know that plastic will fatigue and break over time. What I plan to do is glue a small rare earth magnet with a ferris metal plate as a latch. Those rare earth magnets can be found in many sizes at any craft stores. I did this for an acess door on a quad and it worked great.
