Posts: 77 Virginia Beach, Virginia | Ok, so normally I would consider myself an experienced rider but there is something I don't get: what is the utility of the leather vest? They don't seem to offer much of any protection, they are about as fashionable as a codpiece, and would seem to block essential core cooling in deference to thebability to mount a large club patch. I seem to still be drawn to the victory vest, but cannot explain why. Can anyone sane help me with this!
Secondly, I have been getting increasingly uncomfortable on my Vision stock seat, and start to squirm after 100 miles. I usually don't start to experience monkey butt on other bikes until around 250-300 miles. Is it the seat, or is it me? I have not tried my air hawk on the seat yet, but it seems to be cramped for room. All input other than telling me to loose some ass is appreciated. |

| I like the vest because when I smoked it was a place to put my cigs. I have not used it much since moving to NC. It's also a place to put patches on!! I also wear under armor underwear. Best thing for distance riding without doing anything to the seat. |

Get a piece of sheepskin as a seat cover. Cool in summer, warm in winter.
We have ridden with sheepskin on our bikes for year. In the last couple of weeks we have gone bareback and man did we miss it!
Get your sheepskin from Pat Garrett - he's a Victory rider!

| vest is not for protection, it keeps ur tee shirt/ or any shirt, from flapping around and irritation you neck/chest. thats it, but it does a good job. i recently took a long trip, 1504 miles in 28 hrs, it was so hot i didnt go with a vest or jacket of any kind, at the end of the day my neck was almost rubbed raw by my shirt color flapping against it day. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | the vest is practical, but if you don't find it to be so, wear something else. I wear the leather because 1) it is cheap, 2) it is practical and 3) protects against the elements. If you all have suggestions about 2 & 3, I'll defer you to 1).
As far as the seat goes, leather again. I suggest that if you go leather you should not have the same degree of problems as you mention. I used a shamwow on my seat and it worked great even in those 110 degree rides. I never stopped to let my butt cool but that shammy was wet but I never got the monkey butt. I was putting in 180 - 200 mile runs between gas stops.

1. Required for ownership of a Harley
2. For wearing when your body is out of shape yet you own a fun mirror that makes YOU still see muscles...
3. Vests help when one doesnt wear deodorant. The theory is more air less stink
4. If you braid underarm hair, surely you want to wear a vest to show it off
5. 17 years ago it looked "bad ass" and you still live in the past.
6. The taper of the "V" on your chest when the vest is buttoned down, coordinates with the taper of the "V" on all your neck chains.
7. A vest is required when your chest hair is gray, but you believe exposing it to the sun will make it look "blonde".
8. The vest accentuates the bandanna with the attached fake pony tail.
9. Wearing a vest totally annoys my wife,,, therefore I cannot live without it.
10. I wear everything I own, no matter how old it is, worn out it is, outdated it is, ugly it is, impractical it is. If i got it, im gonna wear it.
(much like thread bear underwear).
With regard to the sore butt and the Victory Seat. I would like to address in a more serious manner . Having a medical background,
let me suggest that while the response of "lose some ass weight" may be appropriate to some respectful degree, lets look at this in a more
realistic adult mode. Assuming that your butt discomfort also comes from being "over 50". Not knowing how sedentary you are in your daily life or how physically active you may be, none of us here can really give you a fair response with any amount of knowledge.
I recommend from experience with older adults who ride motorcycles, that for ever 120 miles you ride, you should stop and get off the bike
at least 10 minutes. Your bodies frame sitting in essentially one position is a lot like getting up out of bed first thing in the morning. It stiffens up. However we all know that the more we move around, the better it feels. The same would hold true in this situation. Getting off the bike
and walking around opens up the muscles, tendons, nerves, and improves the overall circulation of the body. Now for those of you who
respond by bitching " im not wasting time getting off my bike" let me remind you that every single one of us ride motorcycles for the experience, the peace of mind, and the pleasure. NO one buys a bike with the sole idea of seeing "how long you can stand it in one ride".
Take the 10 minutes, you'll feel better and your fat biker ass will thank you.... Dont believe me? Try it just once.
ok, now I will go back to being my sarcastic yet charming self... |

Posts: 404 San Antonio, TX United States | I love my vest cause its perfect for storing my camera. I can take my camera out of my pocket easily and shoot photos and store it again with no wobbles of problems. Its perfect for carrying what i like and need, same as a professional camera person uses a vest for all his needed equipment.
For the seat issue, i think it may be how sensitive you may be to the vinyl covering VS leather. Just a few weeks ago i rode staight through from Winslow, AZ to the east side of San Antonio. This route took me through Roswell, NM and i saw temps on my gauge up around 110. This was a day i sweated alot. But i still never got the Monkey Butt. even after riding the whole 20 something hours through. |

We can cover them out of any material... and color. We are now doing flames, web, and pin stripe stiching. If you would like to tald about the seat or would like me to email you some photos... just email me at HMD520@yahoo.com |

| You need others to tell you not to wear your vest? O.o Here's a note from your Mommy saying you don't have to wear your vest while riding...
My left cheek would get sore after about 750 miles until I got the highway "pegs" from Tri-City Polaris. 1000+ days with no problems. |

I do think that some good riding shorts are in my future, and still considering a custom seat.... |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | I ride everyday to work ... OK, not the last two days but over 10 inches of rain in less than 36 hours plus more wrecks than can be reported makes me drive the Trailblazer.
About the Vest. I wear either a leather vest, demin vest (cut from a demin jacket), leather jacket or a Victory mesh jacket every time I ride. The simple reason is that it prevents my shirts from ballooning, bellowing and things flying from my shirt pockets. Leather is used when the high temperature is below 75 degrees. Above that I use the denim and the mesh jacket.
It makes me laugh to see people riding down the road with their t-shirt up around their shoulder blades and the plumbers crack exposed while buzzing down the highway.

Before cordia, there was leather. Having some of both makes for good coverage in most weather conditions.
As it has been said before, keeping the shirt down, carrying different items, and just basic brand support. |

Posts: 329 scotts valley, California | I like my denim vest best. The camera goes in the left outside pocket. A few handfuls of almonds go in the right inside pocket. In normal weather (60-90`) it goes over my tee shirt; in colder weather it goes over my leather jacket; in hotter weather it makes a nice air flow around my torso with no tee shirt and fat straps leaving a gap in front to catch wind. I do have a black leather vest with my "VICTORY IN JESUS" patch on it, but I pretty much save it for weddings and funerals. |

I rode sport riding (V65 Sabre) and the vest thing seemed the way of the knuckleheads....Well, now, I'm a knucklehead (V100 KPT) and the vest keeps in more heat and holds the wind at bay amazingly well. Power to the knuckleheads :> No offense. |
