| Let me start off by saying that im 51 Yrs old and have had a Harley under me since I was 15. I still have my 97 Ultra classic HD. I bought my Vision a week before we left to go to the west coast leaving from Lawton Ok. I had looked at these bikes for several years and on the spur of the moment went to OKC to Maxeys cycle and bought it. I ordered a tour pack (luggage compartment, trunk, ect) but it didnt make it in in time. Ordered a hitch from hitch doc and it came in on friday the day before we left. Installed it without pulling anything off but the rear panel behind the seat. simple and easy. My trailer is huge. Im 6ft 2 and sleep stretched out in it. A friend of mine rode my harley with his wife on this trip. Now heres where it starts to get interesting. There was three harleys on the trip and my Vision. I got better fuel milage than my harley and one of the other harleys and i was pulling a trailer. I was lead bike and when we got to the mountains I couldnt believe how well my Vision handled. Pulling a trailer it handled better than any of my HDs ever did without pulling one. I am amazed at these bikes. Yes the tranny is noisy. I was concerned untill i read on this forum that they all are. I can live with it. Every time we stopped somebody would come over and look at the Vision and want to talk about it. Ive never had that much attension before. I will have to get use to that I suppose. any way 7496 miles in 13 days and not a lick of trouble. Im very pleased. Sorry for the book just wanted to share. Posts: 109 Sturbridge, Ma | That's great! I recently got my 09 as well and my wife and I are amazed of all the attention! Yes get use to it while the HD'S just have to stand there and watch you explain all the features on the bike to everyone that ask...
Now that you have done that many miles...you are due for an oil change? If you haven't already and this is a sensitive topic...but I did take great advice from people here, and switch to Amsoil 20W50 and I can tell you everything got quieter and smoother...these are great bikes! |

Yes even the Vics have their glitches but it's great to read and hear about the fun stuff whenever somebody feels like typing for a few minutes. Sounds like you travel a bit more than the average so keep those stories comming, we all enjoy reading and commenting. Chris |
