| Hello All
My high beam went out the other day and was wondering if I could change out the old bulb with a HID. type bulb. The bright blue light can be seen much better than the white light. Just wondering if I can do it for a 09 Vision. Called the dealer to see if it was covered under warrenty and they said NO. The new regular bulb from the dealer is $22.00 . Can I go to Checker or Autozone and pick up a bulb there. |

| You have dual headlights and maybe a HID (accessory on some models) in the center of them. The HID is turned off and on by the switch on the center console next to the hazard light switch. If you don't have the HID light they ain't cheap. It was about $400 for the conversation to do it on my '03 way back when. It's not just a bulb. Do a search on line and the aftermarket car ones usually show all the parts that come with the kit.
Others have tried using different bulbs but some expensive bulbs just don't hold up to the motorcycle environment so search before spending the big bucks. |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | Also pay attention to the wattage of the replacement bulbs. Some on this site have opted for higher wattage, whiter light bulbs only to have their heat adversely affect the headlight housing. Some say it began to melt or deform the lens. Do a search of the forums for more details. |

SC, Bluffton | 1) I just ordered some H4 halogen bulbs in preparation of the Vision's eventual outage. I needed lights for the others bikes NOW. The place I ordered the H4's from had them as 60/55 watts and used by most typical Cruisers. At $7.95, I will assume they ain't anything too hot and fancy for the Vision.
2) kodonnell1: Please be sure to post about your horrors replacing the bulb(s). I get a kick out of the Visioneer's PO'd rants to the designer. Payback is a bitch, my day will come soon enough, and I'll be crying I am sure.

Tri Cities, WA | If your going to replace one make sure to replace both. Because over time they will dim and if you just repalce one it will be brighter on one side than the other. Just an FYI |

Tucson, AZ | I ended up having to replace the entire headlight assembly due to hitting a barn bat at 60mph. I was amazed at what all had to come off, not difficult, just tedious. If and when I have to replace bulbs again, I would do it with just loosening the side panels vs. taking them all the way off, but at least now I know how things go together. One hint, keep all fasteners from one side/piece in their own containers. Make getting them all back together in the right place much easier.

Central New York | True, it is tedious removing the whole light assembly. But having done it once I am convinced that it is by far the best way to install the bulbs.
1. There is no way to insure the bulb/socket seal is on properly when installing the bulbs with the housing in place.
2. You get to keep all your skin.
3. You get to clean and inspect places otherwise inaccessible.
4. You don't risk foreign objects going down the intake.
5. It is FAR less frustrating. and
6. After having done it and knowing the procedure, it just may be faster. |

New Bohemia, VA | glighto - I will agree, the first time I was convince the only way to change a light. However, I have smaller hands than most and I can work my hand up in the area after the air filter is removed and the light is adjust all the way up. 1) I'm able to get the booties back on, 2) I keep most of my skin, 3) cleaning is not on my list, 4) foreing objects usually stay away, 5) intimacy with the Vision is never frustrating, and 6) being able to change the bulb without removing the assembly, I can do it in less than 30 minutes each, so far. |

Maybe I hadn't picked up on that before, but that is the first I read of it. Do you think this is a missed tip by most?
