Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | mgoblue, sorry to hear that., What year do you have? I'm riding am '08 and very thankful that I've not yet had those kind of issues in three years. I'm normally ride it at 35psi and will put it up to 65psi when loaded, both the wife and I give the Vision a real workout. |

Posts: 492 Indianapolis, IN | I'm interested as well. I have been wondering if running to low of pressure may be hard on the shock. Obviously too much air will increase wear to the bike in general. Let us know what your patterns have been. |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | Bummer on the shock. Can you tell us what happened to it? For the cost, you can get it at a lower cost from some online stores. About a $100 less at powersportswarehouse.com. Hope your back on the road soon. |

| Well mine is an 08. I could tell it was the shock because it was leaking right in front of the rear tire, there is nothing esle there to leak. I usually keep mine around 30 psi, sometimes up to 35. I think it was just a freak thing, a bad seal? I do recall bottoming it out pretty good early this summer on one of Michigans awesome roads, maybe that was it. I had an oil change about a month ago and maybe a few days later it started leaking. No it is not residule oil like some on this site have said the tech verified it was the shock. My dealer is working with me on the price seeing how i"m gonna put new skins on to. The weird thing about the leaking it quit for a couple weeks then this weekend after a couple hundred miles of riding it is doing again, it had to be shock the oil it is SO clean, not like engine oil. |

I ride bicycles as well as motorcycles. Here is an excerpt about Michigan's awesome roads:
"The roads varied between alright and impassable. The only time it wasn't hot was when a strong headwind cooled us off. The people varied between rude and agressively apathetic. Mike suggested a new meaning for "Michigan" as in, "I've just had a bran muffin, some prunes and coffee and I need to take a big Michigan.""
Just thought you might like to know that some folks agree with you...

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | mgoblue, I think that bottoming out you recall may have been it, a good guess on your part. Unfortunately, it does blow, but I don't think it is Victory to blame, but rather the roads. Virginia has some fairly hacked up roads as well, and if you don't believe me, come to Richmond and we'll take a ride on our interstates; 95, 295, 64 and I'll show you what I mean. The harsh winter states like Michigan, Wisconsin and so on has it hard because of the two seasons; Winter and road construction, Virginia has ZERO excuse for our rides being like that, we get the dickens tax out of us just so we can have "good roads".
Having rode from my great commonwealth to the left coast this summer and even to Michigan, Virginia had the worst roads of all, to which I am ashamed. |

Posts: 215 orrick, mo | I don't buy the weather excuse for bad roads. Just ride through Colorado,Wyoming or Montana. They all get blasted through winter and heated up during summer and their roads are great. It boils down to all the crap chems and stuff other states put on their roads now adays. I think some counties in Missouri are actually trying to kill motorcycle riders by the way they neglect any road thats not a major through fare. Whats sad is the major roads suck also. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | albeit, not the weather itself, but the material and as you mention buzz, the chemicals used. Having lived in Wisconsin it really was the two seasons, and it seemed they redid alot of the same roads every year right after the winter. So you're right, what makes the difference, the material and maintenance of them, but none the less the bad roads do exist. It also has a lot to do with the dollars put into the roads, which Virginia has had nightmares wits the contractors and the lack of oversight that lets them get away with shortcuts at our expense. Especially when it comes to front-end alignments, shocks, tires, etc. |

| Mine started to go last fall while riding in North Carolina at Lobsterfest/Southeast Fall Gathering. Had about 30,000 miles on it. Bike started acting odd on hard corners, didn't trust it.
Acted odd for the 1,200 miles back to Maine. Luckily did not start leaking until I got back.
It was covered under warranty. |

| Being new to the Vision, I am asking what shock pressures have some used...I just got the 500 mile check and had the tech set the rear shock to 20psi which is , according to the owners manual, the recommened setting for a 185/190 rider. I do not ride 2 up and very seldom carry anything over 10 lbs.... It seems okay for now. It was set at 25 psi before..Not much difference as yet...Looking for maximum wear for both shock and tires...Set tires at 38 F and 40 R....Thanks.... |

I have no idea about the quality of the Traxxion, but they do make one for the Vision. It cost aprox. $725.00, the stocker costs $500.00. My shock is bad also, I might go with the Traxxion, depending on the warranty. |

| Victory improved the hardness/finish on the shock shaft with the '11 model probably due to seal failures. Since they didn't change the part# I would assume replacement shocks would include the new shaft finish.

| I made a mistake about the part#. They did make a new part# and superseded the old one to the new one so if you buy a replacement you'll get the updated shock.

I cant speak for everyone.....but when I bought my 08' they were giving away the extended warranty for free. 5 year/unlimited mileage warranty at no cost to me. Ive used it......zero issues. |

Posts: 432 Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | I am waiting for progressive suspension. They have a unit that just needs to be adapted to fit the Vision and in the past they offer a lifetime warranty on the top of the line stuff. We need to collectively do a blitz call to progressive to urge them to develop a fit for us. I personally do not think the front end needs anything but regular oil changes. |
