Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | Last night I went to see Rush in concert at the ATT Center here in San Antonio. Wow what a show! I left the Vision at Chilis in the Quarry (shopping area) and jumped in a friends Explorer to save on parking.
They dropped me off at the Vision after the show.
I fired up the (Vision's) winning engine and headed home. It was a full moon and all sorts of animals were running around.....Right around the corner from my house I spotted a deer grazing on the side of the road.
About 200 yards past the deer was an Armadillo crossing the road. It crossed my lane well ahead of me and at the last moment it decided to turn around and go back into my path. I was doing about 35 mph and hit it with both tires.
No problems for me at all....just bump bump. The Vision just tracked right straight true down the road!
The Armadillo did not survive the encounter. RIP Senor Armadillo.

Posts: 7 minnesota | I almost did the same thing with a skunk in July. My wife and I were heading home after a concert about midnight when across the gravel road dashed what I thought was a cat. Well I lowered my foot and kicked that bugger right over into it's own lane. The smell is how we determined is was no cat. |

Genetics?
Poor prenatal care?
Diet?
Early childhood education?
Poor coding on the part of the outsourced MIS worker in charge of the "fight or flight" response section of the program?

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | It happened so fast I did not even have time to tense up. The Vision just corrected itself and went on down the road.
In my younger days I used to play with armadillos like pets at the hunting lease. Now since many studies have shown that them critters carry Leprosy, I do not get near enough to touch them.
varyder, I like the sticker idea. I will have to do that.
taken it easy, I hate those little stinkers! What was God thinking? Really, do they have to smell that *&$*#!! bad?
Tarpits99, Fine...blame the IT guy for bad Electrical Engineering! My group does not write the code or buy the faulty capacitors plus another group hard wires the sockets! We just maintain the servers!
a99miata,
Armadillos, quail, rabbits and rattlesnakes were known around the lease as "The other white meat"

True the Raccoon is also in the white meat family. Not sure why but I see more Raccoons in my back yard then I ever saw in a year hunting. Maybe raccoons just like the leftovers that people leave out.
I was born and raised in San Antonio. My Dad retired and moved to Rockport about 40 miles north of Corpus Christi when I was in High School. Then I moved to Corpus Christi for two years (1993 to 1995).
I moved back home to San Antonio and God willing, I will not be leaving again.
