Posts: 12 Central Jersey! | Anyone have an update or a modification to the bolt on highway pegs ( they bolt under the running boards). I'm a tall guy, 6ft 5 and with the stock configuration, I really don't like the "feel" and if I rest the back of my ankle on them,, the knees dont feel so good after a while. I am looking for a more forward positioned peg to rest my arch on. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Matt, 08 Visoin tour premium and of course midnight cherry! |

Posts: 16 Oregon | I was looking at the switchblade/heel rest thingies and I thought the same thing... oh my knees! I'm not a big fan of the spread-eagle riding position or stuff hanging way off the side of my bike. What I would like to see is something that mounts to the top of the tip-over protectors. I can balance my foot out there for about 5 minutes so I know a little footpeg there would be all it takes. Just need to design/fab an L(ish) shaped braket, add an unassuming footpeg to it from a Vegas or something, then drill/tap a couple of holes in the top of the tipover protectors. Voila! |

FYI, these will not make contact with the ground.
How do I know?
When the Vision went over on the tipovers, the floorboard extensions were clear of the ground.

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | My 29 inch inseam prevents me from reaching the front Tipovers.
I would like to find some short pegs to replace the stock highway pegs. To relax I leave my heels on the floorboards with my feet angled out and the soles of my feet on the highway pegs.
This just uses the first 2 or 3 inches of the pegs. I looked at some parts catalogs and cannot find any shorter than 4 inches long.
alohaboy,
What is unsafe about the design?

Posts: 244 Fargo, ND | I also have a fairly short inseam and use the Tri City V-Pegs. They basically act like a floorboard extension and lets you either rest your heel on them (which my legs are too short to do comfortably), or use them to allow many different foot placement options. I usually do like you and leave my heels on the floorboards with my feet angled out with the soles of my feet on the highway pegs as well. Being able to shift your leg positions and stretch without having your feet outside the wind protection like the stock highway pegs is a lot nicer in my opinion. And I can also attest that the V-Pegs don't contact the ground when on the tipovers.

Posts: 277 Apopka, FL | For those of us inseam challenged, why can't someone fab a "U" shaped mounting bracket, mounting in the stock holes under the floorboards and coming out, up and over the floorboards? Put your Kuryakyn pegs of choice on them. Solves 2 problems; 1-those of shorter legs can reach them comfortably and 2-we wouldn't ride 'spread-eagled'. Yes, it would take up the end of the floorboard space, but for those of us w/30" inseams, it's not an issue. |
