| All, I stopped by the Simi Valley, CA Harley dealership and they said they are picking up the Victory line. It will be nice to see 2 American-made bikes on the same showroom floor outside of a bike show. It will be interesting to see how the sales get split especially since Victory has added the 2 new more-traditional baggers (Cross Roads and Cross Country) . They said if everything goes to according to schedule, the Victory product should be in before year end. Tim

I wonder if they will have service support from a Victory trianed tech? BTW I bought my wifes first Victory from them. ( Used ) Still good news for all Victory riders who are in the general vicinity of that shop. |

As often happens among isolated populations prone to inbreeding HDs (which tend to congregate in large herds) are subject to diseases that spread rapidly due to suppressed immuno-mechanical response.
While the Victory Vision is not normally known to carry or transmit these disorders; infectious agents often mutate in unexpected ways. These pathogens can then cross inter-species barriers (like bird or swine flu) and result in great destruction among individuals without the proper immune response.
If your Vision regularly comes in to contact with HDs or is serviced by HD mechanics then you should consider inoculation and booster shots as recommended by the AMA.
Common symptoms include leaking of fluids, blurred vision which is most often manifested in mirrors, loose bolts, embarrassing gaseous expressions in response to red traffic signals and flat wear patterns (squaring) of rear tires.
Once these symptoms begin to occur the only effective mechanical response is 5 quart cocktails of semi-synthetic lubricants given at 1500-2000 mile intervals for the life of the engine followed by regular applications of elbow grease and chrome polish.
Effected vehicles have rarely been known to recover, and can often be found on E-Bay languishing in dirty garages, usually in pools of their own effloresce. Advanced (early terminal) cases can often be seen being towed on trailers. |

| I would think it would take a good salesman to handle this situation. He has to be able to tell if the buyer is a hard case HD buyer or sitting on the fence. Some people you can never get to even look at another bike and if you try they will go to another dealer. I lean toward that being the reason not too many dealers do it. Years ago you would find an HD dealer handling say Suzuki which handles the price difference. If a guy walks in and still has the HD outfit grandma bought when he was brought home from the hospital a $1000 difference will not sway him.
I will be interested in how this works out. |

Strokers in Dallas
Actually, Strokers isn't an authorized Harley dealership. They have used and customs, but not the new and official line for Harley. They service and such. |

Posts: 62 Jacksonville, Florida | How hard they work to sell one or the other all depends on which one will put the most money in the salesman's pocket.
It will definitely be interesting to see what the impact will be at these double dealerships. How does a dealership deal with the engine cutaway comparison? "Well you will notice that the Harley motor has 5 times as many gaskets and o-rings as the Victory, and all though the Victory Freedom 106 produces more hp and torque, with only 8 gaskets it will have too much vibration."
On the other hand, an established HD dealer will draw more people than other dealerships, which will probably help the Victory brand overall, in the case of having both under one roof.

For those of us who are near that location I think its all good.. No doubt we will test the waters.

The guy wouldn't do it, rick said, typical hd riders response and walked away, I snickered!!! :-) |

Posts: 520 Simi Valley, CA | I am going into Simi Motorsports (Simi Harley) tomorrow and they are going to put on two new tires and brake job on the front and rear. I went in n Friday and ordered the brake pads. They said I would be the first Victory they have serviced. They should have the bikes in within 2 weeks.
Giving them a chance.

Posts: 520 Simi Valley, CA | Just dropped off my Vision for the tires and brake job. All of the mechanics came out to look the bike over and the service manager was actually looking at a Victory parts catalog when I rode up. I told them that there are quite a few Victorys in the local area and we are looking forward to having a place to take the bike for service and parts close by. The bike should be done in another 2 hours...

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | As chief engineer Cometman, I do my own trival work like tires and brakes. I might not be able to ride while waiting for the work to get done, but at least I know where she is at night. Most everytime I took mine to the dealer, when I had one, they found an excuse to keep it another day. But like you, I'd want to find out what they knew in case something happened to require docking for repairs. |

| Cometman - 2010-12-29 11:20 AM ... I know I know, better my bike than yours .... When we moved out to SoCal, we went though a few wrenches/shops with our cars before we found a good one. After routine maintenance visits, I came home with loose oil drain plugs leaking oil (missing crush washers), new transmission lines almost cut though because the mounting straps were not put back on allowing the line to rub against the fan belt, etc. and so on. All easy repairs, but lazy wrenches caused more expense and problems than they repaired. Glad I have a reliable one now. |

Posts: 520 Simi Valley, CA | Well I just called them and they said they haven't started it yet.... still waiting for the brake pads to show up. They told me this morning that the pads were in the UPS shipment that they got at 11. I asked about a tracking number and they gave me some BS about they are investigating it.
I told them to put the tires on and call me when that is done and I will pick it up and do the brakes myself. I feel that they should of at least called me to tell me that they did not get the pads today.
It will be sometime before I bring my bike in for any service again. |

Posts: 520 Simi Valley, CA | Well I just picked up the Vision from Simi Harley, they had the rear brake pads delivered by UPS at 5pm, and only one set of the front showed up, so they mounted the tires and did the rear brakes, and did not charge me for the pads or labor on the brakes. They were also very apologetic and wanted me to know that they really want to service Victorys and that they are sending at least two of the techs to Victory mechanic school.
I feel much better now.... |

Posts: 226 on the edge of Los Angeles | I guess its only fair to chime in here on a warranty repair that they are doing on my wifes XC.
This is their first warranty repair adn second victory that they are working on.
Its needing a new main circuit breaker and a front brake rotor. Parts were ordered for it last week and I checked on it yesterday and they have not received the parts yet..
So I am taking a big jump in with them and I will see and post on the final outcome.
So far they have been pleasant to deal with...
Hello Simi are you staying tuned here too.. |

No way would I want to be the guinea pig especially on a warranty electrical issue. Mike at Cycle Dragon has probably seem it.

Posts: 520 Simi Valley, CA | Well personally, this dealer is in my home town. Five minutes from my house, and shouldn't we support local dealers? Plus they are an established Harley dealership, and that alone shows that they are experenced in working on motorcycles. They do have 5 master mechanics. Why don't you guys ride out this way and support the newest Victory dealership?

Had a great time coming out there for the Fuel It demo, thanks for showing me that good little lunch place. Kinda funny to see a big Harley dealer- then one small corner with a couple of Victories.
Did I hear right, that dealer sells about 25 Harleys a month, and so far, they have only sold 1 Vic? I sure hope the mothership makes it worth it for them to keep selling until the sales staff and customers realize what a good bike the Vics are. Maybe next year they will have 2 corners with Vics (and a 3rd with Indians ). |

| I demoed a Cross Country with my wife on Satuday. It felt like I was jumping on my mountain bike compared to coming off of my Vision. It would be a great lightweight 2nd bike. Got my friends to try a Cross Country. Trying to get them into something more comfortable for his wife so they can do long rides with us. He currently has a small cruiser with a pillion seat which isn't very spouse friendly. He like the CC, but wants to try the Vision. |

| Yup, that was a shame. They were very nice guys to deal with. Does anyone know where Mike and John ended up? Recently Mission Motorsports, a mega-dealer in Irvine, has added Vic to their extensive list of brands they carry. I had them take care of a belt chirp Dragon was unable to fix and they were very professional in the process. I was kind of surprised since the big dealers often don't have the best service. I hope they stick with Vic going forward.
