Hi all and installed the CB radio in my vision and victory will be all right in terms of communication with the passenger, and all other functions but instead to talk with others who have installed a CB radio on their bikes from other brands do not I can talk at a distance of over 200 m which is very strange because I should have a much higher reaches to anyone had this problem and can be solved, thanks

+1 on SWR.

Also check the SWR on all the channels. Usually you will have stronger signal on the top or bottom end. May be that whatever channel your riding buddies are using may be weaker on your setup. We have found that the lower channels work best in our group.

the channel that I use is 18 and prove to others also have found that with the bike stopped without booting is heard better and more sharp and when I start the bike has interference, I think that has to be a problem with the antenna connections

I checked the ground cable connecting the antenna and I've seen that I have cenectado to a screw that holds the CB is also a small screw me if you can confirm this well connected as the instructions to throw away and I can not retrieve it I recall that there was wide strip to connect the antenna to the chassis screw that is used to remove the case back, you can confirm me

Does anyone have a good site for instructions on using an SWR meter? I want to do this too.

FWIW, my buddy and I put a ground plate in our trunks like HD's have.   We also replaced the stock Victory CB antenna's with Firestik's 3' Firefly antenna and reset the SWR after the modifications.

We now have much better range than the stock Victory configuration.

Since the Firestik's coil is top loaded, I will try grounding the luggage rack to see if that helps to increase the ground plane's effectiveness.  This will not work for bottom-coil antennas because it puts the coil below the ground plane.

HTH,

Tim

+1 on the Firestik. When some local friends came to me about their CB issues on their bikes, I was so happy to see Firestik was still around. I used them in the 70's and 80's when I installed cb's in the heydey of the cb radio. While nothing can replicate a 106' folded or wrapped whip, such is not practical on a bike.

And read the info on the firestik site. I was so temped (actually jeff bugged me a few times) to write an article on installing and tuning antenna's but frankly... the firestik site has the best, and easiest to understand info available. Even if you are not using their product it's useful (although I can't see why you wouldn't use their product).

I don't have the Instructions and the ones that came with the Victory antenna were not very good anyway.

You do have a stainless or metal braided cable that comes from the Antenna to the Mounting Point under the Trunk. That needs a good connection to ground it. You may want to loosen up the mounting bolt if it is small as you say and add a washer on each side of it to make a better ground on that braided cable.

But usually "Interferance" when in motion is a result of Electronic noise from an electrical point. Maybe the way a cable is run near a power cable or source.

I don't have the factory CB installed so not sure how their cables run, but I was able to get rid of some electronic interference by rerouting a power cable to my Cobra unit.

My braided cable was attached to one of the left side bolts that holds the trunk on and then runs a short distance to the left side of the plasitc trunk skin where the antenna is mounted.

As for noise, when I experimented with Xenon HID lights, the first kit was very noisy.  Had to turn the squelch way up to get rid of it which really cut down on range.  The next kit had larger ballasts (which were not as easly to hide in the tight fairing), but they are dead quiet.  No CB noise at all.

The Vision's OEM Xeon HID actually adds noise to the CB radio when the center HID light is turned on.  Funny that is is not as quiet as an aftermarket kit.

So to resurrect and OLD thread....Is the antenna system on the Vision a ground plane antenna? Or a NON-ground plane antenna?? I am looking to replace my stock antenna and want to get the right one the first time!

Any help appreciated!
