It bends VERY easy. The trick is not to apply ANY pressure past the notch on the backside about an inch from the end. I adjusted mine perfect, but didn't like that the ball touched the handlebar, which is stupid. I never pull it in that far anyway. I tried to tweak it by bending the end out. I had a rag over it to prevent scratches and completely forgot about the relief. So of course I broke it. When I did it the next time with the new lever it was perfect. If I ever get a new bike I will do the same thing as soon as I get the bike. Made a big differance for me. The photo with the tape measure is the distance after adjustment.
