I want a set of bars that are close to the stock bar in riding position, but with a different shape: the bar is just a tad higher in total rise, so the glove and fuel doors clear the controls, and with the ends dropping just enough to allow a clear view out the rear view mirrors. Try this - sit on your Vision, put your hands on the grips, and imagine the bar tips dropped just enough that you cannot see them looking at the mirror. Kind of like the shape of the bar on an Electraglide. Whatayathink?

We are currently making 3 different sets of bars for the vision. One will be a set of Apes with an 11" pull back. The next is the 2 up one back. The last is the VIP... which is a full custom bar, its a combination of a drag and a beach cruiser.
Pics should be available soon.
Thanks for looking....

Here is what I see in the rearview - image of my hand on grip is right over where anything behind me is.

I can see my hands in the mirrors too....BUT, after hopping on some steel frame bikes at the most recent Demo Days at my local dealer, I see MUCH more in my Vision mirrors than I could on the other bikes. In fact they seem very small compared to what I am used to now.

I intially had issue with seeing my hands in the mirrors, but that has faded with time and no longer a concern. There is plenty of space to see behind you when properly adjusted. I minimize my distractions and riding requires a certain bit of "tuning" out things that can distract you, the hands in the mirrors is one. A solution if it bothers you is to have external handle bar mirrors installed, '09 and later have the hole already, the '08s would have to have the holes drilled into the clutch/brake resovoirs. Other than that, without a complete redesign of the fairing, or changing up bars as this post suggest, what are you going to do about it except get use to it, or complain?

you could put a spacer between the bar and triple tree to raise them. As far as not seeing your hands your just out of luck.
I guess there is no perfect bike.

Interesting pic. I just see my pinky and fourth finger in the mirrors on my 09 VV. Perhaps the mirrors need to be pushed down a bit more? I know some have also installed those little round convex mirrors in the corner to help (the ones with 3M sticky on the back, about 1-2 inches in diameter).

Has anyone put a spacer or shim under the bar as John Frey suggests? Goldwings have an aftermarket shim available that is wedge-shaped to allow for a "tilt" forward or back, I think.

I have lowered my front end about 1.5'' which required me to use about 3/4'' spacer under the handlebars. I like the way mine sits now. I have a little more view now. But I am also only 5'7'' so I may not be able to see the same things you bigfoot people see!

When you lock the handlebars,it limits the opening of the glovebox.......moving the bars will make it more accessible....just so you know. I sometimes forget my I-Pod in there.

HMD 520 I hope you will be selling the cables that we need to go with the handlebars.

The bars we are making do not require you to extend the cables. The stock cables will work just fine. Sorry for the delay ... had a set back on the bar mock up. We should have some pics this week. We have pics up of the exhaust lowers in mock up on FB. We will also have the lowered kickstand available next week.

As for the beach bars.... we have something simular coming as well. They are a cross between a drag bar, and a beach bar.
