Tucson, AZ | I (or I should say my friend Ken Stevens SDVIC) installed new speakers up front on my 08 Vision yesterday. When Ken removed the dash cover he immediately said "what's this?" Ken had recently done the same speaker swap and does not have this item attached to his dash. It appears to be some type of antenna but we could not locate it anywhere in the Vision manual. There are two wires attached that were not hooked to anything. Ken and I both have 08 Vision tours and bought both brand new in Oct 07. Thanks for any help!

I too, found this same alien living on my dash, back in 2007.
so, to sum up, you got one of the very early edition Visions like I, what are the last four characters of your VIN?

Never mind........... the chicken man beat me to it.

Tucson, AZ | The last 4 of the VIN are 1432. Thanks for your help. I supposedly was the first in San Diego to get a Vision and took delivery on 9/27/07. What's weird is Ken took delivery only a week or two later. In your opinion do you think it could ever be tapped into the antenna source? It certainly looks to be a better antenna than what is currently there. |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | in my opinion sure if you can splice the Coax in. I believe the power plug is still under the dash. So, if you can find the matching plug or just cut the plug off tada.
Yes, I believe you also got one of the first ones, even with that high of a number. Also be interesting to know the number of your buddies. What are the colors of yours and your buddies.
I'm betting yours is black.

Tucson, AZ | Actually both Ken & I have Midnight Cherry. Truth is I rarely use the radio and rely on the Ipod for my tunes. But it does look to be a better antenna so maybe some day I (meaning Ken) will splice into it and see what the result is. |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Hmmm the plot thickens, the last I heard was that black was the first color run, but no hard numbers, seeing that I have only heard of this alien maybe twice before, i was figuring that it was only on the first set of black. Oh well, good thing I didn't bet money. No wonder I don't gamble.
I have to go back and look and see what Songfan's # is.

Tucson, AZ | Thanks John. The antenna on my bike looks almost identical to the BT 87 on the link you posted. Was it fairly straight forward on hooking it up and did you notice an improvement? I'm sure the Vision engineers had a good reason for not using it but my thought is if it's there, heck why not use it. (Ken are reading this....you know as well as I do I will be handing the tools to you like normal!!) |

Posts: 208 Wichita, Kansas | I have an 08 SSG, SN 612 and also had the antenna. The powered antenna connector is shown on the audio schematic in the service manual for the 08, so it was obviously there at one time. The cable is cut and is very small so there is really no chance of hooking it up. I got one of the aftermarket powereds that looks like it, but it worked about like the front visor antenna. Some people have had good luck with them. I didn't. |
