Posts: 104 Corona, CA | I have the stock CB/comm package on my 08 Vision and with the Atom Bomb pipes and the general noise of the engine/trans, the background noise while underway is very high.
When we are riding at anything but a 5th or 6th level cruise we have to turn the comm up to 15 to be able to hear each other. We don't even bother with the VOX setting because it has to be so high that we would have to shout to activate it. We just use the PTT switch when we want to talk.
What have others experienced with their units ? Is there a way to cut the background noise down ?
I thought my wing was noisy while riding on the freeway but this is far worse.
We have thought about going to the wireless units but I don't think that is the answer plus we would lose the CB and stereo.

Posts: 785 Mt. Vernon, WASH. | After decades of being around pneumatic drills, rivet guns, running jet engines (you really need to stand next to the gearbox on a running jet engine and 'feel' the gear train in your chest while you 'trim' or adjust the idle and power settings) and various racing engines from Nitro burning fuelers to MERLIN engines in hydroplanes, my hearing is shot so a few years ago I sprang for molded silicone ear plugs to keep the wind 'shreak' bearable while I ride. Now you can get them with all sorts or ear pieces including ipod and com types molded in and they comfortably fit your ear because they are molded to fit. They might be just what you are looking for......... |

I almost don't hear the tranny at all with the earplugs - they attenuate this part of the spectrum exceptionally well. Music and intercom sounds great and I can just barely hear the low freq. exhaust pulses. Nice. |

Posts: 506 Woodland Hills, CA | I too have the molded silicone ear plugs wired with speakers and they work great. The ear plugs block out the wind and background noise, yet the intercom works perfectly. Having said that, I am not using the Vic intercom, but the Scala Rider bluetooth, so there may be a difference. When I want to listen to music, I just use the speakers, but even at highway speed, I only need to set it on about 12 to hear great.
Anyway, that's my experience. |

Nalcrest, FL United States | I don't think the background noise is any different than any other motorcycle as long as the exhaust isn't too loud. I have J&M headsets and I use the vox settings and it works well. You are on a motorcycle riding down a road. there will be noise in the background. I use mike covers from Cycle gadgets but they are no longer in business. They work well. Over all I think the CB/COMM. package on the Vision works very well. |

Yep. My exhaust is stock and it's going to stay that way. My SC is very loud. My touring bike is going to stay quiet. I have bought a lot of stuff from Cycle Gadgets, including the windsock deflectors. Too bad this economy did them in. I'm going to miss them. Another source for the deflectors: http://www.windsockwinddeflector.com/catalog.htm I haven't bought from these folks, but these are the same ones I got from Cycle Gadgets.
