Posts: 109 Sturbridge, Ma | Hi All,
When I replaced my Victory Luggae rack with my cycleops Winged "V". Those 6mM allen head screws which are used in the inner trunk panel and turn signals and around other places in the bike. I've been trying to find them and replace with next size up. I believe when Victory do their initial build they are torque a bit to tight that when you unscrew they pull the plastic right out causing it not to screw back when re-installing.
I found some in my screw bin which all of us have not sure where they came from. They where the same style but a bit longer and thicker which is what I need. My turn signal had stripped but this next size up help me re-thread without having to replace turn signal.
I have been searching all over and wondering if someone could help? Need to replace a few that are really not grabbing much. I've tried autoparts, hardwares and nothing. Won't go to Victory cause I wonder if they only have the built ones and not the next size up?
Thanks for the help in advance! |

Posts: 111 Salina, KS | I experienced the same issue Eric when I put my rack on. I used some CAT 2-part epoxy on a toothpick to dab into the existing holes to give the screw something to bite into & it worked great after I let it cure for a day. I didn't use much, so it didn't require a great deal of pressure to re-thread the hole, but had more than enough grip to hold. |

| be careful some glues create heat and will crack plastic
You can check for bolts on line you have to go to the store. Keep in mind just about all cars have metric bolts. Hardware store would be a good place to start |

| Well Eric I used my hot glue gun and filled the hole ,let er sit, then just used the bolt again. I try when reinstalling to turn the rachet backwards till I feel the threads drop down then go forwards till tight. Hope this works for you like it has for me. This fourm is really great, ask a question and get alot of good answers! life's good ..

| Fellow Victory owners, it seems awefull funny that our "American" bikes have metric fasteners! : ^0 And to the best of my knowlege Harley's have standard fasteners on them, at least my 07 Road King did! |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | It's not funny, it's just a fact Victory motorcycles are different than as HD motorcycles. So the fasteners are different, the handling is different, the power is different, the rides different, they even sound different...they are different. Almost ALL fasteners either Standard or Metric used in the USA are made in another country, now that's funny, sort of! |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | Why does a metric screw make our bikes any less American? I think folks have a hard time deciding in what era they want to live and how they relate their heritage. Sounds like Victory folks are not much different than the rest of world, wanting to live in the past while claiming they are foward thinking...
Eric_MA keep us posted, take a pic of what screws and screw holes you are talking about. Sounds to be a bigger defect. |
