Posts: 3204 Memphis | I just got an e-mail from Bill "VisionTex" Lindstrom's daughter. He passed away suddenly with a heart attack last Sunday. He was 20 working days away from retirement. He was the best riding partner imaginable. One of the most helpful trouble shooters in the history of Vision-Riders. We have lost a giant. I'm crushed. |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | Bill was a true gentleman and I'm honored to have met him. I was so looking forward to meeting him on the road this summer at the AVR. He had a quiet manner that belied is great sense of humor. A wonderful man.
As soon as we get any word on arrangements or charitable donations, we will post them. There is an online guestbook for Bill if you feel inclined to post something:

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | This is very sad news indeed. My heart goes out to Bill's family.
I learned more about the capabilities of the Vision in the few hours of riding with Bill in the lead then I have before or since that ride. Below are some pictures of that ride almost two years ago.
Rest in peace. You will be remembered and missed my friend.
The first picture taken by Tom (SongFan) shows Bill (VisionTex) in the lead followed by Skip (Smadge) and me (Radioteacher) when we were leaving Blanco Texas for Luchenbach.
The second picture is Skip, Bill and I enjoying BBQ at Rileys in Blanco, Texas.
The last picture was taken before they hit the Willow City Loop and I headed to Fredericksburg, TX to go to work on my day off. From left to right, Bill, Skip, me (Paul) and Tom.

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | Thank you so much to all for your wonderful thoughts and messages about Vision Tex. He loved to ride and had a passion for his Vision. Bill and Marsha had many plans to travel on the motorcycle after his retirement. Our Dad started riding in 1981 on a used Honda 650 and quickly caught the fever. He would ride to work in the middle of winter if there was no snow on the ground. In the late 80's he traveled to a couple California Motorcycle Racing Schools and quickly advanced to the next level as a rider. As those of you know, who've riden with him, he had an unmatched ability for safety and precision. We always felt safe with him on the road. He traveled so many places on the back of the bike and wished to continue his travels for many years. We will miss all of the stories of his Vision and the wonderful people he has met on his journey.
We are having a memorial for Bill on Wednesday, February 16 from 5-8 pm at the Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena, TX. www.grandviewfunerals.com Memorial Donations can be made on his behalf to Star of Hope Mission, PO Box 1505, Houston, TX 77251.
Bill will be transported back to his home town of Lacon, Illinois where a Visitation will be held on Friday, February 18 from 5-7pm and Funeral Service on Saturday, February 19 at 11am at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon, Illinois.
Thank you~

It was an honor to watch him lead us to Galveston and back, have a great meal at one of their favourite restaurants and then spend the evening in the garage talking bikes.
Marsha.....Penny and I will truly miss him.

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Let me start by saying I don't do funerals. I haven't been to one since 1993. Everything lined up perfectly in my life over the last couple of days and I was able to make it to Bill's funeral in Illinois. I didn't know until 8:00 Friday morning if I could pull it off but when I got the green light from work I was northbound on the Vision by 10:30. It's a little over 500 miles from my house to his old hometown and I got there about 7:30 Friday night. The family didn't know I was coming. Too many things had to fall into place for me to go and I didn't want to give them false hope that I might make it and then not show. I got to the funeral home at about 10:30 yesterday morning and there was a parking spot on the street, directly in front of the main entrance. I wanted the Vision to be highly visible. I was there in spirit for everyone on this forum. As I got off the bike, a young couple was walking across the street towards me. The girl stared into my face, looked at the bike, looked back at me and said "Are you Tom?" I said, "Yes, you must be one of his girls." She said "Oh my gosh, I'm Jeannine." She gave me a huge hug and said "I can't believe you came here for us!" She asked if I had ever met Marsha (Bill's wife). I said no. We walked into the funeral home through the doors where the family was gathered. The line to greet them was out the side doors, extending into the parking lot. Jeannine walked over to a lady, touched her on the arm as she came out of an embrace and said "Marsha, this is Tom, Dad's riding buddy." Needless to say, the emotions is the room ramped up about ten-fold as her eyes flew open and she hugged me like I have never been hugged before. We stood there for at least two minutes. You have to imagine the scene. We are surrounded by several hundred people dressed in suits and dresses and I'm in jeans, boots, my Victory jacket unzipped with my long-sleeve black Vision Rider shirt on underneath. Over the next 30 minutes, nearly every person there walked over to tell me how much Bill liked riding his fancy bike and taking trips with Marsha. I never got more than three feet away from Marsha and the girls the whole time. As the service was about to start, the funeral director asked me to sit with the honorary pall bearers since I was obviously special to the family. Marsha stopped him and said that she would like for me to sit with the family. He said "Of course!" By the time the family got seated, there was only one empty seat left. Front row, corner seat, next to Marsha. I was beyond overwhelmed. The family priest said all the nice things that try to sink in at a time like this and one of Bill's nephews read some touching remarks that the girls had written about growing up with Bill. The nephew then related his own stories. The priest came back up and asked if anyone else would like to speak. I leaned over and asked Marsha if I could say a few words. She squeezed my hand and said "That would be great." I got to the podium, introduced myself and said "I just met Marsha 45 minutes ago and now I am family" I spent the next 10 minutes talking about why he was so different and special. (No jacket on. I could feel every face in the room staring either into my eyes or at the Vision-Rider logo on my chest.) I talked about the forum, the rides, the conversations about our families at every meal we had together. I told them that in all the days of riding together, we had never once been rained on. I pointed out that it was 45 degrees outside and clear as a bell. It had rained on Thursday and my bike didn't get a drop of rain on it Friday or Saturday. It will rain again Sunday after I am already back home. I ended by talking bout what a tremendous honor it was to be embraced by his family. The family had booked a restaurant about a mile down the road and I was invited to sit with a different group of family members for lunch. People kept coming by to thank me for coming. After about an hour, I walked over to where Marsha and the girls were sitting and told them I had to head back south. Needless to say, it was an unbelievable ending to an unbelievable trip. I pulled into my garage at 9:30 last night. |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | Tom, thank you for representing the collective soul that is Vision-Riders. I'm sure many of us wished we could have made it to the service but geography and logistics prevented it. I am stirred by the family's embrace you received just as if I was there with you. You did a wonderful thing by attending, both for the family and for yourself.
Lord willing, we'll take a moment at this summer's AVR to remember Bill together.
Thanks for making me (and all of us) feel like I made it to the service with you. You are top notch my friend.

| My sisters, Marta and Brittney and myself and our Mom Marsha and the rest of our family would like to personally thank Tom "SongFan" Warren for attending our Dad's funeral this past Saturday. We know it was a long and cold ride on his Vision from Memphis, TN to Lacon, IL. Having him there to remember his friend and riding buddy, "Vision Tex" was very special for us. Thank you for sharing your memories of Dad with us and the rest of his family and friends. It meant the world to us. Please ride safe and always keep "Vision Tex" close to your heart on those long rides. Jeannine, Marta, Brittney and Marsha |

| Ghost Rider
By William Lindstrom
"As you travel down that lonesome highway, riding high on your eighty degree aqua vee, pointing your beam at that heavenly fire, your face is parched by that fire. Your shine is touched by the night. You will feel there is more than darkness behind you. In time you will find what is coming, because he is coming, the Ghost Rider.
He will come out of that darkness, that deep darkness behind you. That small pulsating light behind you will first tell you, tell you he is coming, the Ghost Rider.
As the light comes closer, you will wonder what he is like, that Ghost rider. Up behind you he comes out of the darkness; his feet layed put front, his hands holding on tight, as he rides the rolling thunder.
His face lined and burnt with wind, his clothes soaked with sweat as he ponders behind you; and you wonder about that rolling thunder - that mysterious rider behind you. But thoughts are gone as he moves by you with such thunder they say it's rolling thunder.
And now he is only a memory as that devil's lamp fades in the distant amber, a memory you will never remember - never remember because he was never there, that Ghost Rider. He was never there because he is part of you as you run toward that heavenly fire and the night darkness touches your spine. He is part of you, that Ghost Rider."
