Rancho Cucamonga, CA | Got a 'Back Off' brake light modulator. It is supposed to make the brake light flash 4 times before going steady anytime you hit the brakes.
I checked the service manual to see what wire to splice into (white/pink), but I found while the bike is running there is a constant 9V going thru this wire which increases to 12V when the brakes are applied.
The brake module won't work with voltage running constant.
Is this normal for the Vision or do I have a short somewhere?
The service manual doesn't show any reason 9V should be on the white/pink wire. |

Jasper, MO | I suspect you may be in the wrong wire bundle. Here is a link to Songfan's 99 LED installation that I found to be very helpful when I added LEDs to my trunk. http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=4824&pos... He shows the right wire bundle to tap. That white/pink wire is only hot when the brakes are applied. The white/pink wire in the other bundle does have voltage on it all the time and has something to do with the middle brake lights going out whenever a turn signal is activated.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | Don't know what changed, but the white/pink wire worked just as it is supposed to today and I got the modulator working properly. |

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | Just figured out that the brake light modulator disables the cruise control. Anyone got a way around this? |

Memphis | Um, if the modulator is tapped into the brake wire, the brake is what is disables the cruise control. Right? |

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | Right, it monitors the voltage going to the brakes and disengages the cruise control when voltage is sensed. The brake modulator shouldn't affect that, it does not provide any power itself and does not stop the voltage flow, it modulates the power going to the brake lights between the lights and resistors connected to ground.
I'll send an email to the makers of Back-Off, but I was hoping someone here had knowledge on this. |
