Posts: 71 Willmar, MN | I always keep my stock parts so I can put it back to stock when I trade it. The s1/l1 is not going to be worth anything on trade (or probably resale ) but you can put it back stock in a couple hours and sell the s1/l1 and get something out of it. I sold my non stock parts off my Nomad when I got the Vision and made about $1,400...paid for most of the stuff I put on the Vision when I bought it. |

Kentucky already has a law on the books.
Muffler required. No cut-outs. No modifications to increase noise beyond that emitted by the original muffler installed on the vehicle (Title 16, Sec. 189.140).
A non OEM exhaust could subject you to an expensive (esp if you don't still have the original mufflers) fix-it ticket if you run into a stickler.

Don't want to sound stupid but how do you wear out mufflers? I'm at 39,000 on an '08 VV and still running quiet... How many miles 'til they burn out?
Also, Cap'n Nemo how many miles on your bike and have you had any engine issues?
Thanks.

The left side of mine was cancered out around 60,000 or so, changed them out at 80,000, I posted pictures how the input tube stayed on the crossover when I "pulled" the muffler. The right side was still good except a few small places.
No engine issues except for the occassional pop in the extreme ends of temps, cold and HOT, like after a hard run or putting through town. The fuel pump went out around the 56,000 mark. I'm pumping on 89,700+ today with a big silly grin on my face. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | seriously - if you running around 50-60,000 miles on stock, inspect your mufflers good, especially the left one. Chances are you need to replace them and it is a great deal to get a gentley used set from those who upgrade. I'm good for a couple more years. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | SBR - I've not upgraded, but when I did, I wouldn't keep my stock mufflers only because they would be useless. However, a lot of folks are upgrading with no or low mileage on them. The dealer is not likely to give you much for them and then sell them for a profit. If you have storage space and want to help out a fellow Vision rider (**raising hand**) that wears out their pipes from a lot miles, that is why an upgrader would keep them. (I hope). I don't believe anybody would downgrade after an upgrade, that would be like going back to a Gold Wing or a Harley after owning a stock Vision... I'm just saying...**smirk**
