Posts: 880 Orlando, FL | Anyone had this happen??? After breaking in my NEW vision 8 ball I cranked it and hit about 4500 RPM. When I did that the engine light and the battery light came on, and the first time it happened I noticed the Volt meter spiked. The lights stayed on for 1-2 minutes and went out. It has done this again twice when hitting 4500 RPM (did not see the volt meter spike on subsequent events) The bike runs fine, nothing seems to happen except these lights coming on and the one time volt meter spike.
Got the Error code from the display which is ........
Error: 0
Failure Mode Indicator: 3
Suspect Parameter Number: 168
The mechanic at the dealership can't find it in his book of codes and is checking on it. In the meantime he thinks it the regulator or something and is getting a new one for me.
Has anyone had this issue?
If so, what was the problem and what was the solution?
I want to enjoy my new bike!! (It's 3 weeks old!) |

| I had my regulator fail on the '11 at about 5000 miles. The voltmeter kept climbing till the battery light came on. I don't remember the check engine light coming on but it might have.

| My '11 regulator failed at 1500 miles as well. They installed one off of another new '11 and its been fine since. 35000 miles now. The '11 is different than earlier years. My friend with his '10 was with me when we broke down and I was thinking maybe to use his to get the bikes to a motel but no good.

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | my regulator went at 98,000 with about a month left on the extended warranty. Same systems but it was a continual spike above idle. happy camper now... I refused to run the bike until it was fixed that week. I didn't want to take a chance of frying the other stuff. |

| Of coarse you checked battery cables. Have a battery load test some new battery's are not good. |

| Just a bit of follow-up on the alternator failure. It happened outside of Tucson on the freeway. The gauge went to over 16 volts and the battery light came on. I found that if I put all the accessories on including the seat, grips, radio, HID light, etc and kept the revs below about 1500 rpm I could keep the volts right at 15 which had the battery light out and allowed me to ride it to a motel and to the dealer in the morning. So if you ever have one fail it is possible to ride to help.

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | ive read on this forum alot over the past 4 years about loose battery connections causing all type of troubles, does anyone think this could be added to the issues? just wondering how some of these have failed with extremely low miles!

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | I also remember reading where the newer visions (not sure when this started) but they have full charge/power at idle, whereas my 08 did Not give full charge until a certain Rpm range. |
