Posts: 185 Nebraska | I took my first Vision road trip. Road down to Broken Bow OK. for a VMC meet. Road 2 up with another couple on a '01 Cruiser. We left Omaha Thursday afternoon. It was 41 degrees and rain. The further south we got the warmer it got. But the harder it rained. It took us about 5 1/2 hr. to get to Harrisonville Mo. (230 mi.). Friday morning we meet up with a few people from the KC area. One guy Stanley was trailering his KP. When we left it was 41 dry with a 25-30 mph head wind. About 20 mi into the ride the temp. Dropped to 37. I know I have ridden in colder conditions. But this felt like the coldest. We made our first stop at 80 miles. All the lady's ran for Stanley's Pickup. Lucky for them it was a 4 door. It never really warmed up much until we hit Ft Smith Ark. The heated seat helped the grips really didn't. By the time we got to Broken Bow it was 75. I was pleasantly surprised. Its really beautiful down there. The riding came close to rival Colorado or Utah. Against my better judgment We went on a group ride through the Mountains. I'm not a fan of large group rides. Even worse when you don't know who your riding with. I decided to hang back. I had a Vision in front of me and Stanley behind me. I would say we where riding fairly aggressively. The Vision were in and out of the curves like they were on a rail. I could see Stanley was struggling to keep up. Well it happened Stanley missed a curve and laid it down. He was very lucky to limp away. The bike was a total loss. We ended up waiting close to 4 hr. to get the mess cleaned up and figure out how to get Stanley back to Broken Bow 150 mi. away. And that's a 150 mi. of Mountain roads with one stop sign. Turned out to be one hell of a ride back though. The ride back to Omaha was great. No rain fairly warm and a tail wind. The bike was flawless. The only problem was one of the front running lights sucked in some moisture. I definitely need the luggage rack. Didn't have room for the cold/wet gear on the way back. 1650 mi. total. 40.8 mpg. I'm more than happy  |

Posts: 496 Scottsdale AZ | Maddog- sounds like an interesting trip. I 'm glad the V ran well, I can relate to your description of it "riding on a rail". I don't envy the cold weather you had to encounter, or Stanley's accident. I'm glad he was OK. I'm sure as the season goes on you will have nicer riding conditions. Thanks for the report |

Posts: 82 Northwest of you | I haven't taken a long(ish) trip yet, but, I totally concur about the handling of the Vision. I have not found a curve yet, that it doesn't handle with ease. I got on my JP for the first time in about 6 or 7 rides and found myself having to ease it "down" a couple of times. The Vision had gotten me accustomed to 60mph in 25 mph curves and the JP couldn't do better than 55 and I was nervous. In my minds eye, I see myself on a Jackpot, but, for actual riding, the Vision is the one that gets the nod. |

I have not found a curve yet, that it doesn't handle with ease. I got on my JP for the first time in about 6 or 7 rides and found myself having to ease it "down" a couple of times. The Vision had gotten me accustomed to 60mph in 25 mph curves and the JP couldn't do better than 55 and I was nervous. In my minds eye, I see myself on a Jackpot, but, for actual riding, the Vision is the one that gets the nod. The Vision does give the rider a higher sense of being in control compared to other bikes I've ridden. I've given grabbed an unknown corner that the Vision took with ease, but had I been on anything else, I know I would have been in the ditch. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Stanley needs a Vision. 1) He would have made that curve. 2) It wouldn't have been on a trailer and he'd still have the truck. A whole new verse for the song "Bad Day". Double ouch. |

Posts: 82 Northwest of you | No question that my Vision handles more nimbly than my Jackpot, but, today when we rode, my wife confiscated my Vision because "it's so cold" and I rode he Kingpin. I didn't notice THAT much difference, except that I scraped a lot more ( well, even once, would be a lot more, since I have only scraped on the Vision a total of, maybe 5 times in 659 miles) |
