For summer riding comfort in the hot Texas heat, I highly recommend the air conditioned motorcycle vest - found at www.hogcooler.com; just put 10lb of ice with a quart of water into the cooler stored in your saddlebag, then enjoy 65deg water circulated through the tubing imbedded in the vest.

that's great for a bar-hopper, but does it come dirty, smelly and with patches already sewn on?

I would pay money to see somebody sew patches all over a vest filled with plastic tubing. It would be funny as hell to watch the first time they fired it up.

Imagine a leather clad soaker hose.

LOL

That's why it would have to come already with patches...

Actually, my solution is to carry my well-worn, patch-covered vest in my trunk; then swap vests whenever I stop.

A couple of other side-benefits with this a/c vest: once I arrive at my destination, I can empty the water by using the hose-end as a refreshing shower (my wife really enjoys that); also, having this cooler in my saddlebag during travel helps to keep my rear tire from over-heating whilst pulling my trailer at higher speeds.

I thought that low mileage bar hoppers use iron on patches.

Interesting! I've seen video footage of a lanyard actuvated inflatable 'crash vest' that supposedly keeps you from breaking ribs in a 'get off'

Dang, I was thinking you could keep a case of beer in it.
I rode to Sturgis back in 2001 plus 2 days there for a total of 5 days with the thermometer on my '99 pegged at 120 degrees. That was in the sun and there isn't any shade on the highway. I can't imagine riding in that weather day after day. Whatever works for you.

I am missing something here, how does it work if the hose is pinched in the saddlebag when you close it?

Since the Vision is NOT a bar hopper, it has hard bags. I wouldn't expect the pleather bags to pinch...

I drilled a two-inch hole through the front side of inner bag hardshell, split some small hose and glued it around the opening for protection, then snaked the hoses between the seat and outer saddlebag door. The vest has a quick-connect assembly on its right side for hose attachment/removal. On/Off switch is built into the end of the hoses.

In 100+ degree weather, the cooling comfort lasts over two hours ; I simply buy a new bag of ice each time that we stop for gas (wife's Vegas must stop every 150 miles).

In the colder months, I have a saddlebag liner filled with my Gerbings controller and jacket liner, pants, insoles, and gloves. I just swap out between this liner and the cooler - depending on the weather. So, I am already used to not having the right saddlebag available for any other misc. storage.

Yep, I bought one back in Sept '09. (www.hogcooler.com) Used the heck out of it last summer, and am now once again switching out the Gerbings gear bag for this cooler bag/vest system. Tomorrow, I'm headed to Sandy Hook, MS (9 hour ride) for a biker gathering (www.MemorialDayBikerParty.com). Got my new Bead Rider installed this afternoon, also.

I've had one for over a year. I cannot attest to it actually working as I haven't crashed yet. I have the Hit Air one.
