Neither was right. But the guy in the truck was making it worse - IMHO. |

Posts: 1359 New Bohemia, Va | yeah, I'd be curious of the outcome. The redneck was having some issues, but the dudes on the bike captured not only his fault, and attempt to crash him, but all a cop has to do is the run the time distance calculation and find the guys on the bike were wrong as well. As it was pointed out, starting with passing on a double yellow. Dude I got you...uh...and me on tape acting a fool... |

| Yep, the cyclist essentially "started it" but driving recklessly. Excessive speed, passing on double yellow, etc. And they probably did it EVERY weekend and possibly every day. Perhaps the truck driver just got "tired" of the idiot bikers on that road? Who knows. However, no matter what the Bikers did, there is no excuse for INTENTIONALLY trying to run a bike off the road. Hopefully, the authorities got the recording and ticketed both the truck driver as well as the bikers so that they can BOTH learn from their errors. |

If he already tried running you of the road and then chasing you, why would you think he would stop and not just run over you at the stop sign? Glad nobody got hurt but I hope a lot of cyclist learn from this to keep themselves safer. Being right wont keep you from being killed. |

Anybody think this coulda been staged ??
the thought cross my mind a time or two, especially toward the end. However, the close encounter made me feel that even if it was staged that was too great a risk. The stop sign episode seemed a little odd and I was trying to figure out if that was fact or fiction. If the pickup truck redneck was sick of the bikers as he said he was, he may have been welcoming the police to take care of them, not understanding his own predicament. |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | Some people ride and drive like fools. What the rider did was worth a ticket....What the truck driver did was criminal (I am thinking felonious) and deserved handcuffs, jail time and a heavy fine.
This is a classic tale of "Two Wrongs do not make it Right!"
Today on the way home from the gun range (I am coaching some friends in concealed carry) while in my truck.....a Mustang with out of state plates (Pennsylvania) was flying up the access road behind me at 20+ over the speed limit. I could see that he was blocked in and I wanted this type of driver to be in front of me. I changed lanes behind the car in the other lane and let him by.
In the next four hundred yards he changed lanes twice without using his indicators. The car in front of me took the turn around and this driver cut me off to take the empty lane at the light. After that he drove 50 in a 35 then I caught him at the next light. After that he turned off the road into some apartments.
I restrained myself from explaining the driving statutes of Texas to this "driver" and pointing out the direction of the Red River......I continued on my way and drove home. I wish I had a camera in the truck so I could provide the video to the police. I wonder if they could have used that to ticket him? I am guessing not....but I think that the some officer might have a chat with him.
At a minimum there are laws on the books on how long you can be in the state before you have to register your car in Texas. I am sure that this can be explained in a language that he can understand. |

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I typed the red p/u truck's plate into google and all the sport bike clubs and ar15.com come up as matches. There are plenty of folks not happy with that moran.
1+ Teach. Ever since I moved to Florida and carry on a regular basis, I tend not to let things bother me on the road (as much). It's scary how fast things can escalate. I had a guy, similar to red pick up dude follow me into a parking lot and box me in. Got in my face that "I was abusing my power". I was driving a Crown Vic police interceptor with antenas all over the trunk, spot light, push bumper, and emergeny lights in the rear deck. He took offense that I drove in the center safety lane to avoid a long back up. I was making a left turn, so my actions did not affect anybody, just saved me about 8 minutes. Wrong, yes. I wasn't on a call, but this guy thought I was law enforcement and was ready to fight me over it.
Lot of insane people out there.
