Posts: 235 Evergreen, CO | There have been a number of posts from folks on here regarding the desire for an additional two inches of pullback on the Vision's handlebars. I place myself in that group. There have been custom bars made, and discussions about other potential options, although there really are no "off the shelf" solutions at this time.
I'm NOT a metal guy, so I'm no expert at metal work, but I have a suggestion for those more in the know to consider and comment on. I have posted here before about possibly having a set of pullback risers installed to replace the stock ones, but the responses I received is that there is insufficient room for that. By perusing this forum, I have seen pictures of the stock handlebar mounts, which are under the console and not in plain view. Since the Vision handlebars are one piece (like most Harleys), and not two individual pieces with separate mounts as found on many foreign sport tour and crotch rocket type of bikes, the blocks that are available for them to raise and move back each handlebar cannot be employed for the Vision either.
My latest thought is to fabricate a plate out of metal/aluminum, that spans the width of where the stock Vision handlebar risers mount to the bike. A pair of holes would be drilled to facilitate attachment of the plate to the stock openings on the bike where the risers are mounted. A second set of holes would be drilled approximately two inches rearward of the first set of holes, to permit attachment of the stock Vision risers, and this second set of holes would be drilled at the same width as the first set of holes.
In short, a plate that would attach to the bike at the stock location, permitting the risers to be relocated two inches rearward, and permit reattachment of the stock handlebars two inches rearward. First, do those of you that have been under the console extensively think that sufficient clearance is available to permit this? Do you think this would limit handlebar movement in the space between the console and the "tank"? And if both of those hurdles are answered positively, can anyone recommend a thickness and type of metal to use for such a plate?
Any thoughts??? |

| From what I have read the stock cables and wires don't stretch enough for much longer bars. Otherwise maybe you could just get 2 pcs of round bar made to insert in the ends of the bars and pin and just move the controls to the new pcs? I haven't really looked into the situation so I am shooting from the hip on this idea.
My short arms seemed comfortable enough on demo rides but that may change on a 1000 miles a day? |

Posts: 223 Valdosta, GA | Ok. I've got some potentially good news. I just spoke with the guys at Santa Rosa Vee Twin (SRVT). They are the ones that made my pullbacks. It seems they've changed thier minds and WILL be producing bars for the Vision. I suggested some minor changes and informed them about the GPS clearance issue. They are going to look at it before the begin production.
They have a bunch of bars for other bikes already on the assembly line, so it may take some time before they get them out. They haven't set pricing on the bars either, but I suspect they will be lower than the price they told me about the last time we spoke.
So, it looks like there will be an option for us shorter folks in the near future.

Posts: 223 Valdosta, GA | I told them to pop in and say hello when they start producing anything for the Vision. They're on over at the VMC on occasion, but I let them know that if they're looking to advertise to Vision riders, this is the place to go...
