Posts: 92 Fort Walton Beach, FL | I am not sure that this is where to post this, but I would like to meet with as many riders as possible on my journey from Fort Walton Beach up and around Lake Superior and Lake Huron thru Niagara Falls down to Erie and PGH and then over to the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway to the Tail of The Dragon and the Smokies then on down thru Georgia and home.
I am leaving on or about the 20th of June and would also welcome anyone who wishes to make all or part of the trek with me... just call Howard @ 850-543-6827 or email speedlimit@rocketmail.com or respond on this or any Victory forum.
Thanks... keep two tires down. |

Posts: 154 Danbury, Connecticut | Howard, when you come down from Niagra Falls, see if you can make it a point to ride through Letchworth State Park. It is not much out of your way, known as the Grand Canyon of the east. I rode through last year coming home from picking up my Vision in Pittsburgh-cool place. There are a lot of nice roads between Pittsburgh and Erie. I preplanned the ride for my GPS using mostly county roads and turned a eight hour ride home into a 2.5 day adventure. I did the Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge and Smoky Mtn ride last year as well. If the sky is clear you are in for a treat. I have lots of good loop rides for my GPS all around the Smokies if you are interested/have the time. Recommend staying overnight at the Big Lynn Lodge right off the Blue Ridge Pkwy in Little Switzerland-phenomenal views high elevation. Also the Cherohola Skyway near the Dragon is awesome-it was just in the AMA magazine top 10 ride list. When you figure out when you will be in Western NY let me know and I'll see if I can swing the time. How long are you planning to take for the entire trip? |

Posts: 92 Fort Walton Beach, FL | SteveS, thanks for the input. Sounds like winner advice... if you have time please send the Erie to PGH trip route. The entire trip is planned to be as long as I can stand it...LOL... I have a spouse and a puppy at home who will miss me, but they are willing to wait. I have to be home by August because my wife has plans to take a trip with her mother back to their home town. |

| Haven't been to Canada in over a decade but make sure you have your I.D in order. You need a passport or equivalent now. When your in the Pittsburgh area try to stop at a place called Quaker Steak and Lube, They have the best wings you will find anywhere.

I'll stop there... called my sister and she knew the place. It's no hassle at all entering or exiting Canada... passports are necessary to get back into the USA though and they hassle everybody they can... in all my "worldly" travels reentry into the USA is the biggest hassle except for terrorists that is... the "no profiling" rules give them a pass. |
