Posts: 447 Northeastern Penna. | For those who wear helmets, does anyone know if motorcycle half helmets are sized differently than the full face helmets ?
I wear a size 2XL full face helmet.
I recently ordered and tried on half helmets from Zox and GLX in sizes 3XL.
I swear they were actually size L or XL.
Checking the sizing chart for these helmet manufacturers, they couldn't possibly be the sizes stated on the helmet.
I know most helmets are made in China, where they are a smaller people, but there are big sizes in all other clothing items, for big men everywhere.
What's the deal with motorcycle half helmets?
Is there such a website that one can order a custom sized half helmet or are there half helmets made that are true to size ?

| I don't ever buy helmets on the internet for that very reason...The times that I went to dealer and tried on the helmet that fit, then ordered on line it did not fit...Learned my lesson and if you ask, most places will sell at or close to the internet prices...... |

Chances are, if you order on line you'll wind up with an 'Oriental large' and their idea of 'large' won't match yours. ask anyone who's purchased domestic consumption condoms in the far east, they are about the same size as a finger cot (the rubberized page flipping thingie).
I've got a huge melon and a large number of 3X sized helmets seriously pinch my knob so I'll tell the sales person that I'd like to wear the helmet for a few minutes while I look @ other things to see if there are any 'hot spots' before I make a purchase, sometimes I still need to have a minor 'discussion' with a new helmet using a deadblow hammer and a brass drift on my sheetmetal forming shot bag. |

At webbikeworld they test as many helmets as they can as far as function and fit. This is probably the most honest and accurate source of size and shape info on the web. You will still have to make a judgement call though based on their information. Here is a link to there helmet page. Also along the right hand column are other pages you can click on related to specific characteristics regarding helmet fit and shape. Good luck. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmets.htm PS Reputable on line helmet sources such as motorcycle superstore, and cyclegear, etc. offer no questions asked exchanges as long as a return is still in new condition. |

No offense to anyone, actually my Scorpion with the flip up/down shield is the same as my Shoei full face XXL. |
