All -  I've been toying with the idea of changing out the seat on my '10 Vision......... either getting a different Vic seat or having mine customized.   I guess I find the stock seat tends to slope back to much.... looking for a more defined "pocket" for me to fit in with better tailbone support.   Make sense??    Wondering:

Vic Options....

(1) Touring leather seat (apprx $900) moves up/down , forward/backwards, is comfty, etc??
(2) 8-ball seat ($300 ?).  I've heard this is cut an inch deeper and moves a person a bit forward.... this is really what I'd like to have that deeper cut for more low back support.   Does this come with the slit for rider backrest or heating elements?  I know the 08 versions didn't... how about ones used on the 10 8-ball model ??    Will these seats be discontinued since the 8-ball Vision isn't no longer a 2012 model option?
(3)  Any adverse affect for passenger for either... be it to firm or different shape?
(4)  Is there a Ness version that is any different ?

Looking for my options (excluding the $1k I'd drop on Corbin).

Thanks everyone.

This 2009 Vision had a Corbin seat and a Cyclops powder coated Black luggage rack .

Wow...... some 60'ish times this has been opened and only 1 reply with a picture (which is appreciated but already seen, thx). I guess everyone is running the stocker and I may be the exception to the rule that would like a bit more support. As FYI... I'm not UNcomfortable, but tend to wanna start shifting 'round alot after a few hundred miles. Plus, I think the extra / deeper pocket could be a better fit. I did add Vic backrest which helped... would still love to hear opinions and/or comments on the matter.

Yes, my 2009 Ness Vision has a different seat than the rest. It is leather, VERY hard (I'm having it re-foamed today as a matter of fact), it is 1" lower than the stock seat, has two back rest slots, some very cool sewn-in seat pattern, and the MSRP is about $800!

Here is a picture:

Cee Bailey's has a seat recovering option. They do the foam and recovering when you send in your seat and they can make it heated. It's an option you might look at.

I love the 8 ball seat on my 2008. My plan was to use it in the summer then go back to stock in the winter for the heater. I went on a 6400K trip last year on the 8 ball seat and haver never looked back.

Stitch in time in St Pete Florida will redo your seat with memory foam in any color or material you like. He also has dozens and dozens of templates to do patterns on the seat or do a custom. Any color stitching. The posibilities are endless. The heat elements will stay if you wish. He is most famous for alligator seats and was featured on the cover of GoFar magazine. He fell in love with the Vision and had all kinds of ideas for a custom seat. I can't wait to have extra $$ to get it done. It was in about $800. He has loaner seats for HD. As of last year no Vision loaner.

BTW he he also a great guy. The foam that has the heating element in it had wadded up and I had a big lump in my seat. He fixed free while I waited. I gave his employee $20. Maybe he just wanted to see the seat construction. Pulled all the staples, used a steam thing to flatten it back out, glued it and re-stapled. Made my day!

Maybe this is the ticket .... 8 ball seat in warmer months and stocker during the colder months.     Does the 8-ball seat have a slot for driver backrest?

Not sure about sending the seat off as I'd think it would be best to be present and talk things out with the custom builder on what would work best, get specific measurements and all.  Right?  How some of you guys pay out hundreds of dollars, send you seat cross country and hope that the seat will work for you is beyond me...

The 2010 Ness seat (cheaper leather) is the same height and layout as the 8-ball seat. I have it on my vision and love it. It also cost the same as the 8-ball seat which I have on my wife's Vision. Yes they both have a slot for a drivers back rest.

The 2009 Ness seat (higher end leather) is the same as the Victory Leather seat (different stitching) and cost about the same. Both of them have slots for both driver and passenger back rest.

I also have the Victory leather seat I like it because it does not have the bolster for the rear of the passenger seat... It is harder or should I say firmer...

Bottom line.... 2010 Ness seat and the 8-ball seat drop you down an inch and pushes you forward an inch. Has great back support and a pocket for tailbone (a problem I had with the 08 and 09 stock seat).

The 2009 Ness seat and the Victory Leather seat have a pocket for the tailbone, are firmer, have better "cool leather" (yes - they do not get as hot as the stock vinyl. They also push you forward about an inch compared to the stock seat. I am not so sure they sit you lower...

Perfect,  your edit answered all my questions.

So, for the 2010 versions......... does the Ness have stitching vs the 8-ball being plain?  I can't seem to find good pictures online...
How about heating elements.... that may be the deciding factor of which one I'd get.

Thanks a million ...... this is EXACTLY what I was after!!!

Bought a Russell Day Long seat customized. Much better than the stock seat. Did sit you up higher when at a stop sign but about the same height riding as you are sitting in a pocket with support wings. Cost was about $700 in vinyl. They also reinstalled my heated parts and cut out for the Utopia back rest.

Yes the stitching pattern is the same as the 09 - but the 09 is raised the 10 is not. Neither 09 - 10 Ness seat or the 8-ball low seat are heated.... But you could do as I did and install a heating element in the 8-ball seat. I am not sure the leather on the Ness seat would stand up to a heating element long term.

From a my research, the 2009 Ness Vision has a 1" lower seat height from stock. They accomplished this via making the seat pocket lower, not changing the shock. The 2010, 2011 Ness and 8 Balls have 2" lower seat height due to 1" lower seat pocket, and change in shock.

I just had my 2009 Ness Seat re-foamed at a local upholstery shop - $120 and well worth it. It WAS hard with no chance of "breaking-in" in my lifetime [grin].

Thanks !!!    Why do you assume the Ness seat wouldn't hold up to the heating element?  Just because of leather vs vinyl?

Ok... now on the heating element you had installed on the 8-ball seat.   Did you do it yourself or have installed by someone or some type of shop?  Cost of parts & materials?  Got P/N's??  Were you able to setup wiring as plug-n-play?  Where / how did you setup the toggle switches.    Now you REALLY got my interest peaked... lol.  I've thought long and hard on the 8-ball seat as a chapter member down here in houston has it and looks so damn comfy!!!   Only issue my wife won't let me get rid of the heated seats as she really likes that on those cool "winter" (if i can use that term for this location) mornings when it's a bit crisp out.

I will see what I can dig up on the part numbers this evening... There are several manufactures that make heating pads for motorcycle seats. The one I used came with a three way switch. That I installed my self. I also placed the three way switch in the stock location. I only did the drivers seat as it is my wife's bike and she does not have anyone ride on the back... As for the connector... That took me a while to locate the plug that the factory used but I found one (ordered two) so I could make the set up as close to factory as possible.

I will look and see if I can find the part numbers for the various parts I used this evening.

I know it is a silly question......what if you turn the seat heaters on? Would that soften the memory foam?

The power connector is an Accel 74812 2 pin connector. I ordered mine from Amazon. It is a same connector that the stock heated seat uses.

For the heating element went with this one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WaterProof-Motorcycle-ATV-Snowmobile...

The nice part of this heating element is that it can be trimmed to fit the area perfectly.

It works great - you know the story - wife is happy = everyone is happy.

Thanks Web .......... assume a person could set this up to work both front & back on single seat.

Now... any reason why this wouldn't work on the Ness seats?   Would the leather not hold up vs vinyl on the 8-ball seat??

You would need two of the heating elements. one for the front and one for the back seat... Then each would have its control. You could wire so that they both connect to the same plug...

I am not sure how it Ness leather would hold up to the heat. I can only assume that since Victory did not put heat into the high end leather seat or the 09 Ness seat that there is some reason for it.

What happens if I just replace the stock seat on my 2011,which is heated, with the 10 Ness or 8-ball seat and leave the connections for heat undone...I will probably not use the heated seat anyway and really want the lower seat without changing the shock..Can I just tape up ends and leave the wires alone under the seat or will I have issues?????Thanks

You don't have to tape it up. Just leave the connector disconnected.
