Fountain Inn, SC United States | I thought it would be nice to see how we are scattered across North America so I've created a Google map for all of you to put a "pin" where you live.
Here's the procedure:
1. Go To:Vision Riders Map
2. Sign into Google (if you don't have an account, create one - it's free)
3. Zoom into your address (you can be vague if you like, but at least get near your street)
4. You should see an EDIT button along the left column, click it.
5. You should then see a small toolbar at the top of the map. Click the "PIN" and drag it to the desired location on the map. Once you drop the pin you'll get a box to add text to. Type in your Vision-Rider "handle" and any other info you want. I think I'd like to have everyone use the Blue colored pin. If you're a dealer, use a yellow pin. You can change pin color by clicking on the pin in the pop-up dialog box.
6. Click the Save or Done button
This is an experiment so don't get mad if it doesn't work, but it's worth a try!
Happy Mapping!
Jeff

Collaborating with Others
Once you have created a map, you can invite individuals or anyone to collaborate on editing your map. To do this:
Create or edit a map.
Click Collaborate in the left panel. A dialog box appears.
Enter or choose the following:
Invite persons as collaborators - Enter the email address(s) of anyone you want to collaborate on your map.
Message - Type the message you want to appear in the invitation to your collaborators
Collaborators may invite others - Check this to allow your collaborators to allow other collaborators
Allow anyone to edit this map - Check this to enable any Google Maps users to edit your map
Collaborators - You can remove any or all collaborators
Click OK. Google Maps sends an invitation to any collaborators you specified.

Fountain Inn, SC United States | Yes John, that's what I did to get Member#1 on the map. Seems like a real task to do it for all 460+ registered users. Be sure to try the link that Member No. 1 has in his post.
Or here it is in link form: Click ME |

Posts: 74 Puyallup, Washington | Okay JAM, I'm not going to let myself get as frustrated as space cwboy, so if tere is a trick to this let me know with a pm if necessary. I've looked at the map while signed-in and saw no way to edit it. Wayne |

Posts: 257 Under the Rule of Jedi - Masshole | JAM... I tried creating a new google account under a different name to see if I could log in and then use the link I posted. Seems the only way to be able to edit the map is if you have been invited by the map originator. I was able to view the map but not edit or add to it. Looks like you got a lot of emailing to do! |

Link works to get me to the map, but unless you have been invited, or the map settings been changed by a collaborator so anyone can edit the map, we are still at square one. I can edit it because JAM invited me. |

Posts: 175 Colorado | I will simply delete my map, I was looking to see I could assist and at the same time gain an education. Jeff ..my apologies like you said your doing it right it looks like Google owns the issue and their QA department might want to add this test in their test script before release.

Posts: 732 Western WA | This is a really cool idea, but it seems like a ton of work for JAM to enter all the email addresses.
Maybe the ones that want to collaborate could post the request in the thread, or PM one of admins? That way, you wouldn't have to add all 470 members.
Just throwing out ideas. |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | I appreciate the offers of help.
Hold on though, I'm working on an alternative that seems easier. Once I'm sure it works I'll delete this thread and start a new one so as to reduce confusion.

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Or Member No. ! - you could have the Jedi - use the force and the Jedi mind trick and slow you down and convince you that you have more patience. Then again, there is always the Star Trek Vulcan mind melt - don't know what that has to do with patience, but your thoughts would be my thoughts, and my thoughts are your thoughts. Hey get out of here, kinda crowded too many voices. |

The last thing I want to think about when I lay my head down to rest tonight is that you and I have the same thoughts.
As to the Jedi reference, nothing to do with Star Wars or Star Trek, maybe JAM could/should explain better. |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | The Jedi that Pete speaks of is my identity on the VMC. Many people there know me under that identity. I've actually thought of changing JAM to Jedi on this site. Not sure if it would help or confuse things. |
