Posts: 53 Ann Arbor, MI | This is really going to upset some of you and I'm sorry for that.
Last week I decided to buy a Vision and found a dealer that had one coming in and he didn't even know it. Well, a Cherry Tour Comfort came in at 3 PM yesterday and it was in my garage by 10 PM. I was able to put about 60 miles on it today and it lives up to all I've read about it.
Some interesting notes:
It's a Tour Comfort but has "Lighted Badges" and an HID Light. There are also 2 power outlets, one in the glovebox and another in the trunk.
It did not come with a cover for when you take the trunk off.
The mirrors are GREAT! I don't understand the complaints I've read.
I did notice some heat building up on my legs and it was only 78 degrees out.
This is my first touring bike and I love it!
I do feel for those still waiting. Something is wrong that I was able to buy this before the pre-orders are filled. |

Although I now hate you....just kidding.
So it came with some extras? How's the HID light working out? Is it any different than normal lights?
Keep us posted daily. Share every riding detail please!
I have a Cherry Tour on order, is the color as vivid as it looks on line?
I could question you to death. Have fun on your machine, and drop us little people a line about the driving experiences.

The blue of the HID is in the round lens contrasting the normal headlights. I'm not sure that I like the looks of that. I haven't and probably wont drive it in the dark because of our high deer numbers.
The Cherry is quite dark. I guess that's why they call it "Midnight Cherry". I have seen all three colors and felt the cherry was the better of the three for me so I was lucky that I got this one.
It's pouring down rain today |

I ordered the Midnight Cherry for the same reason...looks. And of course, OHIO STATE BUCKEYES colors. I will be riding a Vision to the Rose Bowl this year,,,,if it's in by then. |

Posts: 53 Ann Arbor, MI | I'll see what I can do about some pics.
I put another 80 miles on her yesterday with a huge grin on my face.
The drive train is pretty noisy until 5th gear. When you drop it into 5th it just mellows out and cruises SMOOTH. I'll try to analyze this and put it into better words later.
The starter makes some strange noizes too. Remember how you could always tell when a Chrysler product was being started in a parking lot full of cars?
I pointed the bike out the garage last night and turned on the lights. WOW! The deer are really thick here but I might have to take a night ride just to see what the visibility is like. The dims aren't anything to get excited about but with the driving lamp on (which I believe is the HID) it casts a brighter/whiter light across a pretty wide swath. When you hit the brights you'll have planes circling to land. The driving light stays on when the brights are turned on and the combination just lit up the field across the road including three pairs of eyes staring back at me (did I mention that the deer are really thick around here?).
This bike is definitely an attention getter. It can't compete with our Dodge Viper for causing rubber necking but it runs a close second. The compliments pour in whenever you stop.
After I crossed the 100 mile mark I started playing with the throttle a little more. This thing moves! With the 300 pounds more than my 1200 Sportster I expected comparable acceleration but I think the Vision is quicker.
More to follow........

Don't take her out into the night with all those deer. If I was back in Ohio, I would never take a country night ride. Those Mule Deer up there are huge.
Questions time....I'm trying to hold back.
Did you go single, or take 2 up? How's the "pack" like the ride? My wife is indifferent about riding, but hoping she will enjoy the comfort of a full back rest.
Whats the maintenance cycle? Still take the bike in at 500, then 1,500 and so forth?
Noisy, as in H-D noisy? Do you mean the shift into the gear or during operation? How's the stock pipes? Compaired to H-D....
I like the idea of a strong pull! It's nice to be able to get out of the way a granny who can't see over the dash.
Can't wait for the next installment of information. |

I can tell you that it handles quite well in wet weather. I rode for a couple of hours in decent rain and the wetest I got was when I stepped in a puddle of water getting to the bike. The negative aspect is that it tends to get a little loose on those tar "streamers" they spray to seal cracks up here in Michigan. But then, My Kingpin does the same thing. I'm told a set of Avons cures all the problems like that on the 'Pin, so I'm guessing the same goes for the Vision.
Congrats on being able to snag one before the order folks even got theirs, Visioneer! |

Posts: 904 29 Palms California | pollolittle,,,I had to do a tour on Marine Corps Recruiting duty before I was allowed to get my first Harley. Then I had to go to Iraq to get the Electra Glide, and since then she has been cursing the thing. I have a 2003 E-Glide. The engine is a flop. It looks good, and rides well when I don't have it in the shop. The H-D is paid off, but to be honest, I haven't noticed a differance, since the maintenance price has sky rocketed. With that being said, A Victory is still an American Made V-Twin. You can get the V-twin sound, with far out looks, and better quality machine. Just trying to help. I may have just gotten the worse bike ever to roll off the assembly line, or I'm really bad luck. I did do 2 tours in Iraq, and made it unscathed, so I don't think it's luck. |

Rebel, were you on a demo?
Yeah. Unfortunately, the weekend of our demo ride was unseasonable cold and raining like crazy. I decided to take the ride anyway (if they would let us) because I knew what it was like riding my Kingpin 300 miles in the rain and I figured if the Vision rode well in the rain it would ride really well in dry weather. Since only about 6 people showed up in the bad weather to ride, we got to do it about 4 times. I was very impressed: even in the heavy rain it rode great!
Since I'm a huge Buckeye fan, I won't bring up the blue smurfs.
Go right ahead. I'm from Alabama, so I'm an Auburn fan.
How late into the season do you ride? I know the last few years, the snow has been late in coming.
Normally, through October. Once the temps get below 50 I start seriously considering putting the ride in the garage. Last year we had great weather going into December, so I got to ride longer. I've talked to several people with tourers that have heated grips/seats and they say that they get an extra 2-3 months out of their ride season because of the heated accessories. I'm looking forward to that. |

Posts: 53 Ann Arbor, MI | Buckeye, stop reading, You can't read any more of my info posts due to your Smurfs comment. I hadn't even realized I had our rivals colors on my bike. Now I'll have to paint it maize & blue.
I did get out for a few more miles today. Still grinning ear to ear. I just realized today that another freebie I got was the chrome shifter & brake pedal.
Spent a few hours cleaning waxing it tonight and the Cherry stands out a lot more now. I used Mequire's #7 Show Glaze and then #26 Yellow Wax.
I haven't taken my wife for a ride yet. She's still very nervous about bikes.
The tranny noise is most prevalent in 3rd & 4th gear. It's a whirring noise as your rolling. Once you hit 5th gear it's silent. Downshifting is noisier than my Sportster. CLUNK, CLUNK, CLUNK...... but I still love it.
A problem I've run into is finding a power plug that fits the outlets they have installed in the glovebox & trunk. I couldn't find anything at Radio Shack that came close to fitting it. I'm at a loss on that right now and guess I'll have to try calling Victory. ..... but I still love it.
The owners manual gives instruction on how to remove the trunk and install the trim panel in it's place but I didn't get a trim panel with the bike and they don't list one in the accessories. Another dead-end that will require a call...... but I still love it.
I'm in love with the power windshield. I ran into a little drizzle today and just raised the windshield. Not even one drop hit my glasses.
I'm not sure about gas mileage since it's difficult to fill to the same level everytime. I'll just have to wait until I have several tanks to average out.
The stock exhaust is pretty tame at low rpm's but it's throaty when you open it up. I've ordered the stage 1 kit already and hope to have it installed next Thursday. That should help cover up some of the tranny noise.
Did I mention I still love it?
Buckeye, you didn't read this did you?

Posts: 1324 So Cal | Ive been riding Harleys a long time. If the tranny clunks it means its still working. Its when it stops clunking, then you worry. Harley changed thier trannys for '08 and Im reading they have nothing but complaints. You guys comming off of metric bikes are spoiled. LOL
Most things that make noise, mechanicaly, means they,re built to last. Compromizing to reduce noise usually compromizes duibility. Most metric bikes dont have to deal with the hi torque of a long stroke motor. But most Americans LOVE torque. May not be good for top speed, but great for seat-of-yhe pants feel. |

I have gotten the okay to get the vision but the wife likes the look of chrome a lot better, like the Kingpin. I am a little twisted as to which one I should get. The vision really appeals to me, but not the wife. How do you go about buying something you have never ridden? I don't have my endorsement so dealer won't let me take it for a spin. I can buy it and then drive away. Just hate to be stuck with something that don't feel right. The only reason I would consider buying it is because I have found no one say the handling stinks.

Posts: 223 Valdosta, GA | Got my Vision yesterday. Another one of the "didn't pre-order" guys. Polaris of Gainesville got thier orders in EARLY and took on a huge shipment to get 4 Visions in quick. I picked up a black Tour. What a fantastic bike. I hadn't ridden one previously, but am extremely happy with the way this thing handles, especially when compared to my Jackpot. The motor is strong and the tranny is much smoother than any previous rendiditon. It still has the distictive "clunk", but it doesn't feel like it's being hammered into gear. The starter is loud. So is the horn.
Visioneer, a couple of quick notes...The jacks in the glove box and tourpack are for the intercom system. It's all prewired for the optional CB radio setup. The cover plate for the tourpack mounting point will be listed in the parts catalog, not the accessories catalog. You'll have to check under the Street model for the part number. PoG hasn't gotten thier parts catalogs yet, so they weren't able to look it up yesterday.
Congrats on your new purchase and for being the 1st. Now brave the rain, aviod the deer, and get out and enjoy that new bike!!! |

Thanks for the info on the trim panel.
The manual states the jacks are for charging cell phones etc. It states that the one in the glovebox is switched with the key and the trunk is hot all the time. I just verified this with my volt-meter and it is as they state.

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Congrats to you lucky few that are actually riding your dream machines. It is obvious that the 500 mile break-in service is hitting very soon after purchase. We are all living vicariously through you guys. Keep the impressions and photos coming. My dealer got a Black Street Premium in this week and I went in to check it out. I was there for about an hour and a half and one of the hardest things I've ever done was to walk away from that bike. I ordered a Red Tour Premium and it took every ounce of willpower I had to wait for what I really want. My bike is supposedly a victim of the trunk shortage. Probably arrive around the middle of November. My dealer will get a Silver Street Premium next and then my bike is due after that one. (My dealer ordered two Cherry Tour Premiums , mine and his demo bike, and they are actually being delivered third and fourth instead of first and second.)
Perfect weather in Memphis right now. I'm dyin'. |

Posts: 53 Ann Arbor, MI | I removed the trunk last night just out of curiosity. I'm not sure that this is something we're going to want to do on a regular basis.
You first remove an access panel in front of the seat. That operation is easy enough. Then there are 2 allen screws attaching the front of the seat. These screws came out a little hard because of thread "goop" of some type. When re-installing one screw tightened right up before tightening down on the seat.
After the 2 screws are removed you lift the front of the seat and slide forward. There is an electrical connector for the heated seats if so equipped. There is also a connector for the wiring feeding the trunk that can now be disconnected.
You have to remove the license plate to access the two allen screws holding the license plate bracket on for removal.
Inside at the bottom of the trunk are 4 bolts securing the trunk to the bike frame. These bolts are also "Gooped" and come out hard. I dropped one of the bolts and it fell into a black hole. The trunk then lifts straight off amd can be set on the floor. The trunk balances precariously when on the floor so caution must be taken or it can be bumped over real easily.
The trim panel to fill the gap left by the trunk that didn't come with the bike is held in place by the "W" shaped piece that surrounds the tail-light assembly. Venturing into the "Black Hole" to find the bolt is how I came about removing the "W" panel. There are 4 or 5 spring clips on each side of the "W". In removing the trim one of the clips snagged and I had to pretty much force it's removal and bent it in the process. You're working with what feels like a fragile piece of plastic so it's difficult to use any force comfortably. After extricating the bolt from the black hole and re-installing the "W" I found one of the clips laying on the floor. I set it aside for the next time I have it apart.
The whole process wasn't bad but as I stated earlier "I'm not sure that this is something we're going to want to do on a regular basis."
On another note: The bike handles even better with the 40 pound trunk removed. I only rode it about 5 miles last night but I could definitely feel the difference. |

How odd to hear, Visioneer. When I took my test ride the Vic engineer there opened the trunk, pointed out an electrical connector and 4 bolts situated in the deep well of the trunk and said, " all you have to remove the trunk is disconnect this and take out these four bolts."
I guess I'll have to see if I can do a little modifying to make mine easier when I finally get it. |

The engineer is correct, that is all you have to do to "remove the trunk". But they put the connector under the seat. But to "install the trim panel" you have to remove the seat & license plate bracket and loosen the "W" panel.
You won't be alone in looking for an easier method. |
