Posts: 135 Chesterfield, VA | I'm seriously considering trading up from my 2009 tour premium to a 2011 Vision Tour, and would like to transfer my Garmin 2820 GPS to the new bike. I don't see any reason why the center console mount won't work on the 2011, but am wondering if the Victory GPS harness from my 2009 Vision will plug into a 2011?? I'm not worried about stereo sound, I just want the GPS to overide any other audio and play through the speakers. I'm sure the ZUMO 660 has more capability and features, but my 2820 works just fine for me and would save me about $1000.
So for all you electronic wizards...will this swap over??

Posts: 135 Chesterfield, VA | Yeah...I've seen the discussion on trying to use the ZUMO 660 on the older model Visons and the fact that the new harness wouldn't plug and play, but I hadn't seen anything on whether the new Visions were backwards compatible (eg, being able to use the older harness as plug and play). That's why I asked the question, to see if anyone had tried this. Oh well...it looks as if I will have to upgrade the GPS if I get a 2011.
Thanks for the replies.

Posts: 130 Houston, Tx | If you do upgrade GPS.... look online and find a reconditioned one, much cheaper (with warranty) then purchasing from Vic with dealer locations installed (accuracy is questionable). Where you'll get bit is the mount... as this and the wiring harness are both separate. You could save some money and get a Ram mount ... many threads on this. I installed the 660 in mine... not terribly difficult as long as you don't mind drilling into the console for the harness to route through. That was the hardest part for me.... |
