hooked up my new compressor via the battery tender cable and it came on for a 1/4 of a second then nothing. Hooked it up to the car and it works fine. Guess it's a fuse but it looks like I have to take the gizmo off below the shield to get to them. Anybody know which fuse it may be and why would it blow. I just bought a new Powerlet connector from the tender cable to the cig plug on the compressor. I actually hate electrical problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so do I, the fuse layout should be in the tech manual. I'm in Georgia for a moment, wish I could help.

Check the battery tender line fuse at the battery.

Good idea, simple stuff first! the next C/B in line is 40 Amps and is behind the battery box location, the one from the ignition switch to the battery is a 10 Amp so it's mosat likely the little guy in the tender inline and if you're drawing 10 or 40 Amps you've got a serious issue!

I don't see the fuse for the tender. I find it odd that it blew a fuse seeing it was the best choice instead of the powerlets.

It's about as big as two stcked CHEEZITS and should be inline, holds a modern blade type fuse not the old glass tube ones or the ceramic suppository ones we'd wrap with gum wrapper foil to make the wipers work on our VW BEETLES

I stuck a 20 Amp fuse in there and my cycle compressor works. They are trying to protect the battery from a big charge and possibly popping..

Just for your information, the reason that the Battery Tender connection only has a 5 amp fuse is to prevent excess amperage from back feeding to the tender if you happen to start the bike with the tender still connected. I have done the same as you and changed my fuse to a 20 amp one but I also put a post-it note on my GPS when I have the tender connected reminding me not to start the bike.
