Posts: 741 Central New York | It sounds low to me, my 08 holds 14v.
Is the idle holding at 1000 RPM, or dropping below that?
Do you have any extra lights or accessories on? Xtra lights, heated gear, etc. |

Idle is @ 1000rpm
no extra lights (load) |

| swing by a battery store and have them do a load test on the battery. If battery is good go to dealer and have them check the charging system if you don't have a meter.
Volt meeter tells you the stator and regulator are working. It really doesn't tell you any thing about the battery.
Check battery cables to see if there tight |

Posts: 83 Bolivar Missouri | My Vision started doing the same thing after about 2 months from new . Took it into the dealer with concern .... At idle turn all electrical on and see if it drops even more , if it doesn't it is probably fine .... The dealer's wrench's told and showed me that some Vic's amp gauges for unknown reasons when new go to one voltage untill they get broke in ..... then start working normally . Mine runs from just over 12 at idle to 16 reved up ... They did change the regulator from a new bike to make sure ....

Posts: 785 Mt. Vernon, WASH. | Worry when voltage drops below 12 Vdc @ idle or spikes above about 14.5 Vdc when moving @ normal speeds. A normal 12 Vdc battery will actually indicate around 13.2 to 13.5 Vdc (2.2 Vdc per cell X6) fresh and just sitting there on the bench. As you load the charging system with radio, lights, and other parasitic loads the alternator will fluctuate as will your voltage indications (and really drop out if you turn a lot of stuff on with just the key on and not running the engine) as demand is applied or reduced, I agree have the battery load tested just to feel at ease if everything is good or to keep an eye on if not- |
