Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | Anybody know what town is at the north entrance? Can I make the whole lenth of the BRP in one day?
Looks like about 400 miles to Waynesboro, than 469 the next day on the BRP. I should be able to find lodging at the south end, than 600 miles for the last leg.
Anybody do this? Any input would be appreciated. I don't want to blast down I95 for 1200 miles. I'll be bored sill after 2 hours. |

Front Royal, it's actually Skyline Drive up that way. Comes out on RT 340. North End of the BRP is Rockfish Gap.
Also, there are so many quicker roads to travel that parallel I-95, like 522, RT 15, 301, Rt 1, that will allow you to make decent time. However, they will not have the vista's but some are very enjoyable, 522 is one of my favorites.

| It will be a long day if you start at the top and ride the 469 miles in one day, remember the speed limit is 30 mph,I think. But good luck and enjoy the views ! |

Posts: 307 Columbia, SC | I often (several times a year) travel from GA to NJ and back through the Blue Ridge Parkway. Coming from NJ, I take 287 South to 78 West. Go through Allentown and right around there is where I'll hit 81 South. 81 south to 77 south. And you can stay on that for as long as your travels see fit. Puts me on 81 (which I think is the Blue Ridge Parkway) for about 370 miles. Very nice scenery, towns and few and far between.
I NEVER take 95 going up or down and there usually is no real traffic jams or anything to deal with. Enjoy the ride, and if you are going to end up around Augusta at some point, let me know if you wanna get together for some grub.

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | Perfect. I don't have to be back at work till Oct. 4, so making time isn't an issue. I think I have a pretty good route mapped out. Pretty close to what Alexi posted 78 to 81. Looks like the north end is right at I-64, so I'll stop there and get an early start Wed. According to the BRP website the speed limit is 45, that doesn't mean it isn't less in spots. |

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I will be meandering, at least 469 miles. If you type Waynesboro, VA into google maps it comes up. I can take 81 down to the north end of the BRP. Looks like ony a few miles on 64 east to the beginning. |

Rockwall, TX United States | Spock and I rode SkyLine to BRP Thrusday - Friday. Traffic was light and we made good time. Leaves have not started to turn yet. I guess that's what contributed to the traffic conditions. |
