Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay!
On my trip to VA last week, my CB antenna vibrated loose and flew off. I can't find just the 'whip' on the Polaris site. Does anyone know if I can just buy any ol' antenna, anywhere? Is this one a standard size?? (Good thing hubby & I were using Q2's instead...)

A local CB shop should have an antenna. Craig and I got one from a local CB shop and got a tunable one and they tuned it there. Took 10 minutes.

I lost mine also, you can only purchase the whole antenna assembly from Victory at well over $100.00. I purchased just the antenna for $19.95 from JM Corp. The website is below.

Fergy and I bought the J&M antenna also but the CB shop said they have had lots of experience with this antenna and they would not tune it. The problem with the J&M antenna is that there is no easy way to tune it as you have to cut off wire form the center of the antenna to tune and a 1/8"can make a huge difference and if you cut too much off you have to through it away. If your SWR ratio is too high when you use your CB it can burn up your transmitter in the CB.

We went with a black K40 Electronics CB Antenna that is the same length as the antenna from Victory and it has a piece at the top that can be raised or lowered to set the SWR. It works great and it tuned to an almost perfect SWR ratio.

Apparently you don't ride many 15-day trips averaging 500+ miles per day so you wouldn't understand.

I don't use mine to talk all of the time but when we go for a long ride and all of us have CB radios it is really nice to be able to tell everyone else that you are hungry or need to make a pit stop.

Thanks guys. I'll look for a CB shop around here. Hubby & I jabber intermittently, but mostly it's for the "I need a pee break", or "OK, I'm holding the lane for you..." type of talk.... If he's really lucky, my favorite song will come on the radio and I will sing to him! That was the downfall of the Q2's with their VOX operation, as opposed to PTT. I couldn't sing...

Well, then maybe you'll want a CB soon. I remember not too long ago when I didn't want to hear anything while riding except my pipes. Now I have a CB, XM radio, iPod and AM/FM radio. I've changed. Maybe you will to. Maybe not. But, if everybody liked the same things, we would only need one style of each thing. Fortunately we're not all the same and that's a good thing not a bad thing.

I am looking at the CB for talk around and the intercom so I can talk to the wife for when we ride two up. I was just wandering what channels do bikers use mostly.

Well, if you're riding 2 up, you're just using the Intercom. But if you want to speak to others, monitor Ch 19, to hear the truckers. Or use 10 to talk to other bikers you might encounter.

Thank you, it has been a long time since I have talked on a CB. I was just wandering which channel the bikers used.

We use channel 15 for bike to bike but it is personal preference and what is normally in use in your area.
