I have a question about the front speaker enclosure. I noticed the rear speakers are Not in a sealed enclosure..(you can see all the empty space behind the rear speaker)

Now in my past i remembered sealed enclosures (for bass) gives you a punchy bass tone where as a Ported enclosure allowed for deeper bass tones..

has anyone Removed the front bass enclosure that is behind the front speakers and just mounted new speakers with out that sealed unit?

I never really understood why the back speakers weren't in some kind of enclosure. When I upgraded my speakers, I put speaker baffles in for the rear ones. This way they are in an enclosure and force more sound out the front and not lost in the cavity of the trunk.

I never noticed this, I think I'll look into fabricating some type of enclosure.

On the kicker instruction manual it says (a sealed enclosure is not needed with our speakers)

For what it is worth I used some closed cell foam. I stuffed it in the open cavity that turns downward below the trunk.

A speaker, any speaker, sounds better in an enclosure...sealed or ported. I don't understand why there is no enclosure in the rear either.

As far as searching for more bass, you will not get much out of the Vision head unit. You can clean up the sound with enclosures, but better bass response will be minimal since it is simply not being sent to the speakers.

Im really interested in all this info im reading! Thanks guys .. the rear speakers remind me of the older cars that have speakers mounted behind the passenger seat into the open trunk area... (of the car)
